Klingon Ship Retextures UPDATE - 16/09/08
« on: June 13, 2008, 03:41:00 PM »
Hi folks,  :)

It's been quite a while since I posted anything new on these boards. Life has kind of busied up in the last couple of months plus I've been spending a lot of time out drinking and playing GTA IV.

Anyways.... I thought I would give you all a glimpse of to new retextured ships from my latest project (which will be revealed at a later date). One thing always bugged me about the kessok ships in BC, the textures were awful, so I decided to give them a new lick of paint so to speak...  8)

I've tried to keep the texture as close to the originals as possible, the models have also had their texture maps tweaked to make better use of the ships features.

Hope you all like, C&C always welcome!!.

forgive my blunt-ness, but the impulse manifolds on the Heavy look...terrible, especially with the drop shadowed checkerboard... i know i can do no better, but please try a different approach with them

Well Done glenn
"The path of the righteous man is beset on all sides by the inequities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil men. Blessed is he who, in the name of charity and good will, shepherds the weak through the valley of the darkness. For he is truly his brother's keeper and the finder of lost children. And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who attempt to poison and destroy my brothers. And you will know I am the Lord when I lay my vengeance upon thee."

While your textures look great, could I ask that you try your hand at modeling too?

ahh that looks nice.... you know I think they need a bit more attention... someone needs to remodel the kessok they are practically the only stock ships in game that aren't touched.
Canon is what people argue exists on ships that don't exist.

The kessok need some attention and i love the retexture, does anyone else feel the the look of the kessok themself need redesigning, just my opinion but the kessok look like a demented goat, i think they need to be scarier and darker

True, the Kessok need more ships! A lot more!
As  Technerd89 said, the impule manifolds look... well, they could be better, if you joined the random pieces up into vertical strips, maybe a couple less, it'd look better, just my opinion though.
Like what I see so far!

Thanks for the opinions folks. I agree with Technerd89's comments about the Impulse engines, but before I change them I'll need to have a look at the ship ingame with completed alpha channels to judge them properly. But it's unlikely I'll have time to change them anytime soon.

I agree with you all about the lack of Kessok ships for BC, especially considering that they are probably the main bad guys in the BC single player campaign (along with the spoonheads of course!!). Unfortunately I've never really got to grips with 3ds max modelling or I would have made a whole bunch of new scripts from scratch by now!!

Beautiful work Glenn! Now all we need are hardpoints that don't include torpedoes so big and agile I can't outrun them (That tear my tiny Steamrunner to shreds.) :(

But I disagree about the impulse engines, the manifolds have an odd, appealing funkiness to them.

...Probably not, but the number I get(379.6m) could be considered ?original intent,? a term that I think I will be using from now on, and ?canon? be damned.

It's about time the kessok got some attention. Besides the afore mentioned impulse engines, they look great.
I just realised something. I've released over 300 fully modded ships for bridge commander. Bow to your master :D

Cheers Starforce.

As so many of you have voiced your opinions about the engines I've decided to change them, I think they look much better now.... so thanks for input everyone!!.

Here are some ingame screenies!!.
