U.S.S. Arcadia - NCC-2713-D (Century Class) Able to download!
« on: August 07, 2008, 08:15:06 AM »
So I got DJ's blank Century textures, and started playing around with them. I noticed when you put the textures in game, they're really bright. Say what I want is:

A. Help and Advice
B. Any solution to sort out the brightness

All of this would be much appreciated.

The pic shows an attempt on one part of the ship. I changed the warp coil colour and and the bussard collectors but I'm not keeping that design.

I believe it's the Alpha channel (After seeing many threads like this.) You need to make the alpha dimmer, or something. I'm probably wrong, so if I am, somebody please correct me.

...Probably not, but the number I get(379.6m) could be considered ?original intent,? a term that I think I will be using from now on, and ?canon? be damned.

Hell, I'll believe anyone at the minute. I've decided to call it the USS Arcadia-NCC 82681.

USS Squire hmm?

Can we expect a slight tribute to Starblazers? Though I'm assuming that's a bit beyond your time.

Starblazers? Definately before my time. What made you think of that though?

Image question: What would happen if I just turned the brightness down?

It's an ooold ooold anime, and one of the ships was the Battleship Arcadia

As for the brightness thing, I am pretty sure if it has a texture it needs an alpha channel. What are you using to make these textures?

Something that isn't professional, Adobe and something which doesn't know what Alpha Channels are.:D Do you know of any alpha channel programs or anything like that?

I only named it Arcadia cos during the Time War, there was a planet called Arcadia that was lost to the Daleks. I thought it sounds nice and I'll use it!

I have GIMP, though as I'm completely texturing stupid (No idea how anybody can make such fantastic textures) I can't really use it. If you google it, it won't be hard to find. It's free, too. There's also inkscape, another free one. I'd say go with GIMP though, I'm told it's pretty powerful (And the poor mans Photoshop.)

Downloading GIMP now. What I'll do, is I'll finish texturing and use GIMP to change the alpha channel stuff. I'm baking cookies for helpful people...
