Help with my first mod.
« on: September 29, 2008, 10:06:24 PM »
I have started a mod in Blender and was wondering if any one knows how to add one saved file to another in blender.  I've made the saucer and neck as one file and the lower hull as another and want to put the two together.  I've feeling my way through learning as I go but I haven?t found a way to combine the files.

Change my request, I found a way to get the hull mod in with the saucer and neck but I couldn't do anything to modify the hull.  Is there any way to be able to continue work on the hull after I import it?

Why not just make all the parts in the same scene?

I am downloading Blender now, Galileo, do you have any .nif exporter plugins or do they come with it, etc?

There is a nif. import/export plug in out there if you do a search, I haven?t been able to get it to work properly, but I think it likely because I haven?t bothered to look up all the terminology involved (I only to load one thing).  I only have version 2.46 and I think that they have put out 2.47 so maybe they added it in to the new down load.

And you?re most likely right DJ, I have just started to redo the lower hull in the other file.  Just had made them separately the first time and was felling too lazy to start over on ether part.

There isn't a Blender nif plugin for BC. The nif plugins you might find are most likely newer nif versions unsupported by BC. Me and Rengers did ports from blender to max, that's how he converts his models.

Ok guys, I know this thread is a little old now BUT i've found a way to import/export the nif. format of bridge commander into blender...

don't ask me how i did! i really don't know but here's what I've done:

downlaod and install the latest python version from http://www.python.org
download and install the latest blender version from http://www.blender.org
download and install the Python-File-Format-Interface (PyFFI) from http://sourceforge.net/projects/pyffi/
download and install http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=149157&package_id=166219&release_id=528653

at least the importer works, even textures are loaded **Just have to switch the "mapinput" from Orco to UV and everything works fine!

didn't try the exporter yet but i see no reason why it shouldn't work

so have fun!
I got the plug-in that I had to load a model but then I went back and installed the newer version and now I get an error in Python when I try, don?t even get to the import options screen. :(
