Neck Modelling

I have a question to all the modelling experts here. How do you model your Federation starship "necks". Let's say I have my saucer and my secondary hull and I want a smooth transition. How would I do that best? Thank you in advance!

There's actually some really decent tutorials out there that explain just that...

There's a few methods, though...
1: a- cut in the shape of the neck into the saucer & extrude several times into the exact shape you want, use Chamfer on not-so-smooth places to smooth it out a bit then apply your smoothing groups...

2. Make the neck from a primitive or some other similar method then boolean it in, making the target weld tool your best friend in the cleanup task...

I could go into more detail, but that's basically the two main ways of doing it... Just open up max, and start playing... that's how I learned everything that I know... that and interrogating Lint, Adonis, Senator and a few others... xD But don't do that... they'll get grumpy after a while. <3
