My take on: "What if" TOS-era Miranda class
« on: July 28, 2009, 11:04:16 PM »
Hacked together Andruril's TOS Constitution and p81's Miranda to create a "what if"- in this case, "what if the remastered "The Ultimate Computer" has 3 pre-TMP Miranada-class vessels instead of 3 Constitutions?"

Please excuse the bad screenshot, Messing with BC models (or models in general) isn't my specialty. My specialty is SOund effects, which I can also post in a seperate thread, if anyone's interested.

if your gonna TOS a miranda, primitivize the rollbar.  probably make it look like the wing off an Evo with an oval module, or the clipped off nose of a drive hull.

I saw a TOS Miranda design there they put the deflector dish on that dome on the bottom side of the saucer, maybe that would work if you don't keep it as is?

I like it, we've needed a new Surya for a while.  although I'd have to agree, the deflector pod should be more of a tube shape, the angles look too modern.

A variant with the dish mounted on the saucer is not out of the question. Finding a mounting system is the only thing preventing me from doing it right now.

Starting to re-work the rollbar. I shrank the old torpedo bay to accomodate the deflector dish and straightened everything out, giving the ship a TOS-era angled look over the TMP/TNG era "sleek curves" style.

Ooh, I like it! I always thought the deflector should be there  :P

Anywho, to make it even more TOS-ish, how about making the nacelle (and therefore rollbar) pylons as flimsy looking as the TOS-Constitutions are?
Just an idea.

I'll be checking on this a lot; I like where it's headed.

Like this?

Rollbar and pylons are "flimsier", except where strenghtened around the sensor pod.

Very nice I like the dish on the roll bar. Although, I do not know if mega-phaser pods would be appropriate for a TOS Miranda, maybe two more smaller deflectors like the ones on the Federation class dreadnaught?

"Hey good job there, hardhat!" (If anyone gets it...) Perfect with the pylons, just right.

I wouldn't go with the extra deflectors instead of megaphasers, but I wouldn't know what else to put there... Perhaps diagonal phaser banks? (facing port/starboard, but slightly up too).

So THAT'S what those things are. Believe it or not, I haven't watched TWOK in a while.

Yeah, I may delete the pods and weld the rollcage together.

definetly better with the thin mounts.  and, quite frankly, the sensor dish is starting to look rather natural up there

Mind you, I also rescaled the torpedo pod to make it look more natural.

Slowly but surely modding the model to look more and more TOS-ish.

Update pics soon-ish.
