those pinhole lights behind the dish are the (pardon the pun) brightest idea I've seen for OS types

Adonis: cheers on those fonts.  the equivalent to Microgramma is VERY hard to find (i had to use Eurostyle on the Gabriel), and also wanted to use the font on regular web-browsing, too

Billz: I'll note that system for my own ship testing.  thanks.

I put those lights in because I thought it looked a bit bland, had the advantage of looking more advanced.
I've taked some new pics during warp and in the Omega Dragonis system to show of the specs. I also made a brief vid of it going into warp.

I'm loving those Aztecs.  that's the first time I've seen even glows take on the Star's color, though.

I think they're supposed to change from amber to blue... like a warm up/activation sequence. Guessing amber is 'stand-by' mode?

And it looks... wow, just wow. A very nice ship, although I think the nacelle flare when warping needs moving a bit.

Yep, amber is the standby colour, it switches to blue as you go to warp. I haven't made any hardpoints, i'm currently just using ones from another ship to test it out.
The bridge will be textured, i've got it mapped, it's just got a placeholder testure at the moment. I wanted to test how it damaged in game.

Very good stuff genty. Would it be wrong of me to say, "moar"? :P

I know this hasn't been updated in a while, I haven't had access to the computer with it on. I got access back last night and decided to have a play around with the pylons. The original Enterprise had the grills on the pylons so I decided to make some for this, but with my own take on them. It adds to the uniquness of it.

Wow.  I totally missed this thread.  Those are some sweet textures you made, genty!  And I love the amber-to-blue nacelle grills!  That's a unique touch.

Thanks Phaser, i've always had problems making textures and mapping them but i'm finally getting the hang of it.
At the suggestion of ChiefBrex i've smoothed out the rim of the saucer. Because of the way themesh was I had to do it manually as none of the tools worked. Took ages to do but it was worth the effort.

how far along are you on this?  in-game doesn't mean it's at release level.

now that I've seen the actuall, physical model of the original enterprise, it turns out the fonts provided earlier are an exact match, where I thought they were too "football uniform-ish"

The main thing I need to do now is to map the impulse section, that's the last mapping I have to do. Then it's just a matter of finishing off the textures and then do a final export. After that it's just the hardpoints that need to be done and it's finished. I don't have much time to work on it so it may be a while before it's finished but i'm determined that it'll get released at some point.

I've started texturing the bridge section. I'm going to start working on windows soon as well. Had to remap the saucer rim so that any windows I do won't look stretched.

I've finally got around to doing some more texturing, not had much free time to work on it. I've done up some textures for the aft of the secondary hull as well as starting on windows for the rest of the ship. Got the saucer rim windows done so far. Still need to do some windos for the neck.

I've never thought about it that way, I guess some of the basics are similar though.
I decided to do a render to show the ship off a bit better not done one like this for ages.

Edit: Pic fixed

Oops  :funny. I did the Warp streaks ages ago and forgot which way they went. I'll upload a fixed version in a bit once it's rendered.
