Not to sound too offensive, but tacking a squished-Galaxy Class stardrive onto the underside of the NX-01 saucer, really didn't do much to improve the design.

Frankly, I'm not sure why there is a need for a 25th Century NX-Class, considering the 24th Century version is the Akira Class. A total retexturing of the existing Akira Class + new updated nacelle look, would do alot for making it seem like a 25th Century refit.

This is ofcourse just my opinion, so please feel free to disregard anything in this post :P

it is a torp tube
Doesn't make much sense, considering there are two above that.

Pretty much mine as well.  Though I didn't feel like voicing it.

I intended the launcher below the two main ones the probe launcer.

As for the design, every one has to start somewhere.

The reason I wanted to create this vessel was to replace the 24th century refit, I had it, it stunk and didn't, look anything like an NX-Class. As far as the galaxy stardrive, I needed a secondary hull of some sort seeing as I had replaced the default deflector position with the torp tubes. The galaxy stardrive made the most sense.

This was the best iteration of the secondary hull IMO.

It wouldn't have been so bad if you had at least removed the nacelle pylons from the galaxy hull. :P

I threw that secondary hull out because it made the mesh look to much like the Beta Centauri, Also, I kept the pylons on the galaxy hull as support beams and phaser array locations.

Nice :D :D, now all thats needed is the secondary impulse engines, the bridge, and a little less red on the registry.

Suggested Ship-Class Names:

Mandela-Class

Navajo-Class

Sarajevo-Class

Montreal-Class

Vonnegut-Class

Seattle-Class

Akyazi A-Class

Yeah, i'm more of a fan of the last version of the lengthier-looking hull shown here. The galaxy-class secondary hull throws off the scale of the whole thing. Like tacking dolly parton's chest on a 10 year old boy. The NX was much much smaller than the galaxy and the galaxy-class hull just looks, well,.. tacked-on (unless you're considering a limited MVAM.) The mismatched hulls look like a nightmare for the CoE personnel at Anteres Shipyards or Utopia Planetia. Whereas the one shown below looks more aerodynamic and consistant with the flow of the rest of the design. Doesn't leave gaps/spaces for someone to wedge a lucky phaser or microtorpedo shot by a fighter, runabout, or capital ship. This version looks more appealing in terms of V/TOL, as it looks roomier for landing feet/pylons during planetfall for repairs, dedicated compartments for workbees, weapons, shuttles, ODN/EPS access, internal re-arrangements for multimission capabilities, et al. This version would look sweeter on an M.S.D. in terms of deck layout, turbolift alignments, etc. and likely easier handling in an atmosphere while flying dependant on just your Reaction Control System thrusters.

It does seem like an odd design choice but still, looks pretty good to me.

you guys DO realize that there is one NX refit Per Century, now?  Vladko included a TOS refit in his Christmas pack, PLUS the akiras.  someone needs to make a TMPed NX to finish the era set :P

I asked Licard if I could take a stab at blending the bottom section in to the ship since some feel it is out of place.

Yes, definitely. Although that section at the back I'd turn into a shuttlebay or 2. And what happened to that section in the middle of the pylons between the nacelles? It looks rather daft meeting at a point with no apparent purpose.

You mean the warp core.

That was a warp field governor, not the warp core.  Its purpose was to make sure the warp field was symmetrical by regulating plasma flow.

Boys, boys! Splitting hairs!

I think it actually makes the entire ship seem more... Finished, with or without the thing. If you remove the two struts it starts to look odd and not very Fed-like. They're part of the defining silouhette of the NX.
