I didn't say remove the struts. They just look like they're missing something without that warp-whatever thingy in the middle.

That sounds like a good idea, but why not have two variants? one with the weapons pod, one without. Like a war refit.

By the way, Baz, she looks great, Once you have finished textureing, im gonna attemt the hard point myself.

Okay, the pod between the nacelles is only a warp field governor, not a weapons pod or anything else.  I don't think a weapons pod should be placed there, since it has no forward clearance, so it would be a waste of space for it to be dedicated to aft weapons.  I think the best idea would to simply have a multipurpose pod there in the style of the NX, with a docking port, some sensor palettes, and a glowing bulb (sensor dome?)

Much much better, though I'd leave the module on the aft as an underslung towing-position module (Oberth-Class type) or overhead (Miranda-Class) type rollbar unit.

If you change its position, you change the profile.  The added deflector has already distorted it enough, IMO.

True, though by this time (Late TMP/Early TNG by the Ambassador-style nacelles,) the Loknar/Phobos-Class based catamaran style warp field tech has evolved/shifted enough to have any warp-field strengthening devices embedded inside the primary hull or somewhere inside the armor-plating of both of the ship's nacelle pylons and/or catamarans rather than left outside, severely exposed between the impulse engines. One would hope, anyway. Being able to dock a variety of mission-specific ventrally-towed modules on this design would make for an interesting companion to the other multi-role ships that have been reconfigured to the end of the universe (at Treknology.Org and other sites,) such as the Excelsior-Class and Constitution-Class. Either towed directly against the hull or extended below it on arms, would be interesting. Just an idea.

I have to say that I like the idea, but the textures look a little bare to be a TNG refit.

Heck, it doesn't even have RCS thrusters on it anymore.
Can't wait for 2014 to start.

Well, if you want it to tow stuff that's fine, but I think a refit of Earth's most famous 22nd century ship class would be more of a tribute ship than a backwater tractor.

I'm sure you all remember everyone elses first ship including my own (and yes it was awful).

So please cut him some slack, he will get better and for a first ship it an't half bad.

oh so that was those yellow things are, as another update, the hardpoint will be weaker than planned due to my newbie skill with MPE :P


so it will only have forward torps and two dorsal phasers, three ventral, and no aft

you should do at less one aft, the nx has one phase cannon aft. Looks good. :thumbsup:

I-ll try and texture my own in, I have bothered baz enough already. Actually the hardpoint currently has them , they just arernt aligned to anything.

Textures still lack alot of detail, such as... windows. And I can't tell, but I don't think you have any aztec panelling either, which is common to TNG-era ships.
