Hey guys I've decided what I want to do for my first mod and I'd like it to be a Connie refit somewhat like ZZ's Shaandra and MarkyD's Gagarin. I really like both ships but think that something interesting could happen if they were kitbashed together. So do I have your permission to attempt this? Didn't want to step on anyone's toes.  :D

Lol there's a few ships we have not seen for a while.. Let me see if I still have all the RAW files, it might help.

Ok I have found and uploaded them to media fire for you, you will need 7zip to unpack, it contains all the original textures 2048's and the max file.

The only texture file missing is the starboard nacelle, but you should be able to adjust the other one easily enough (hence 2 red lights)

if your going to bash it then its probably the best way to start with that model, because i unified it 100%

Look forward to seeing what you have planned.

It should be noted that Zambie Zan is virtually impossible to contact. I probably have a year old message sittin in an inbox of his somewhere.
"To live on as we have is to leave behind joy, and love, and companionship, because we know it to be transitory, of the moment. We know it will turn to ash. Only those whose lives are brief can imagine that love is eternal. You should embrace that remarkable illusion. It may be the greatest gift your race has ever received."

I have him on messenger I'll try and pass this along.
Canon is what people argue exists on ships that don't exist.

I'll be getting a new PC soon, though idk what it will be (gift from a friend :yay:). Right now I'm using a P4 2.4 Ghz with XP SP3 and a GEForce 6600 256Mb and 1.5 Ghz of RAM. Not bad but could be better. Work will commence just as soon as I get home (staying at a relative's house). Guess I'd better take another look at the tutorials.  :hithead:

Looks alright, but the nacceles need to be higher then the saucer to give it an authentic connie look. also, the neck between the secondary hull looks to thick and to long.

makes me think more of a JJ Ambassador.  btw, AutoCAD?  if it is, you're a lucky bleep.  if I had access to cad, still, I wouldn't be short on ship ideas (i'm a draftsman by/to trade, and specialized in AutoCad)

I took drafting/CAD classes for two years so I have a pretty good handle on it. Can't afford AutoCad, just got some freeware called VectorEngineer Quick Tools. As far as the design goes I had pretty much the same thoughts as this seemed more along the lines of a hybrid between the Galaxy/Sovereign/Ambassador. Back to the drawing board!

If I may,

I just quick threw together a basic kitbash in Sketchup using markyd's connie refit secondary hull as a base. At the very least, you can use this for reference.

what I would do is extend the neck and pylons to be roughly the same length as on the Connie refit.

Although I appreciate the thought and will probably start my own thread for it. BUT THIS THREAD IS NOT MY PROJECT!!!!

I did this to help him with reference

Here's the revised version. Thinned up the neck and added some details to give an idea of its overall shape and altered the nacelles to be more trek like. They were the last thing I did on the design and I didn't take to long to do them the first time. And that sketchup looks really nice man except for the saucer being about as thick as a wheat-thin lol!  :funny But still good stuff. I can never get enough of the Connie in any way shape and form. I'll try and throw together a basic mesh this weekend and see how it goes. Fun fun fun....

Im glad I could help, but as far as the updated design, the nacceles are still to low, you need at least 75% of the bussards ABOVE the saucer.
