U.S.S. Bludhaven...
« on: June 01, 2010, 03:43:34 AM »
It's been a while since I posted anything here.  The last time I posted WIP images here I believe it was my Chabot model that I was working on, which is still incomplete and might receive a moderate rebuild.  Anyway....

I made this ship about roughly a month ago or so.  Took 5 days to build, and my friend, Fallen_Warrior, made the warp engines for me.  Right now the ship is in the beginning stages of texturing by F_W, and so far the results are extremely promising.

So, I figured I'd share this with you, U.S.S. Bludhaven, Demphir Class TOS Destroyer.

P.S.

Yes, the model is without smoothing right now.  I'm gonna apply and modify smoothing once textures are finished.

I like it, cool design. If i may be allowed, i think 2 things you may want to look in to befor finalizing it. I think it would look better if the deflector housing was 50% bigger and or rising the necells closer to the saucer, because the neck looks alittle long. Now this is totally up to you, im not telling you what to do , and i love the textures on the deflector, its orignal and full of awsomeness!!

OMG  someone working on a Tosser OTHER than GMunoz?! [/sarcasam]

'bout time something new comes out in the TOS format from someone else, though.  I agree about the dish, it needs a WEE bit of a size increase.  I noticed a rather interesting pattern on the dish that I like.

I like the design.  Agree that the dish should be larger.

Well we have had an influx of new modders recently, personally I think it makes sense that they start at TOS and work their way up, helps you get a feel for the design lineage and eventually make your own ships that look like they belong.

Anyway, Cen, I love the nacelles, they look nice and beefy!  :funny

Some of us "new modders" don't like TOS ships and prefer things like TNG, don't get me wrong, I think that alot of the TOS ships we have are very detailed and well done. I just don't care for the way TOS ships look.

I'm not exactly a new modeler, and I've got some non TOS ships in various stages of completion.  I have a couple X Fed ships, the WIP shots can be seen on D.net.

As for the deflector, I had to size it down due to the fact that at anything really larger than what it is now overpowers the rest of the ship, which I feel takes away from the ship.  Remember, less is more at times.

As for the neck, I made it that length purposely because I wanted a little distance between the nacelles and the main saucer section.  Also, due to the torpedo pod, I wanted clearance for torpedo firing.

The nacelles were made by Fallen_Warrior, and yes, they are sexy.

as long as you keep that cool dish texture, the size can stay where it is.  it's just that GMunoz has been so fast and prolific, you'd think they'd hired Anthro Rabbits at the san fran yards in the 2260's :P

you guys make me feel like an old fogie, cause i wouldn't mind seeing some non-Excelsior TMP's as well.

How about an Excelsior like TMP ships?  They're not much, and I've been taking my time working on these.  Been roughly 10 months cause I don't work on them constantly.

The Federation Class is always a good one.  The best one ever made was WZ's Federation Class and Federation Refit.

The ships I just posted are my attempts are remaking P81's old X ships but with more detail.  I can't make carbon copies with a high poly count, but I can get somewhat close.  And I have taken a few liberties with some details.

Yep, still got a few more things to do with those other ships.  As for the Bludhaven, I told F_W to take his time with the textures, cause there's really no hurry.

As always.  *smacks Farshot with a rubber chicken and accidentally sends him into next week*  Whoops!!!  Grabbed the wrong rubber chicken.  Meant to grab the Celebration Rubber Chicken, not the Smack You Into Next Week Rubber Chicken.  Oh well.

*waits for a week and sees Farshot land before my feet, then hands him a drink*  Sorry about that.
