How about the Belle Poule, that was a fairly famous french frigate name that went with 3 ships that did some neat things?

Or one of the original first american frigates the Chesapeake? There were 6 and could list the first 6 of the class.....

Pulsar Class. :)

I'm liking it, even though it looks like a smaller proportioned Galaxy-class. :)

Maybe it's the economy model? XD

more names:

USS Kepler

Class:

Vela Class
Orion Class
Gemini Class
Canon is what people argue exists on ships that don't exist.

To go with the Galaxy theme-
Quasar
Dwarf (would go nicely seeing that dwarf stars are small, and the ship is small)
Sagittarius

Well, I know he will decide the name himself. As its somewhat like the Galaxy class, I would use some astronomical phenomena as a name aswell.

Sounds logical right?  ;)

Textures are superb.

I really like the ship, it's the New Orleans done right

Just one more suggestion  ;)

How about the Forward unto Dawn-class USS In Amber Clad?

I'm loving it, though I have to say that the undersaucer phaser array isn't sitting right with me.

As a friendly-but-annoying suggestion prhaps evoke the ambassador with a broken array around the flat rim of the saucer? I'm not sure how it would work in terms of symmetry with the top saucer's full array...

Also, the torp launcher is very small for such a small ship. Perhaps it should be scaled up to relate to the Galaxy Class better?

@Bren: Broken phaser strips seems more Lost Era than TNG Era, at least it does to me. :p

I'm sure it would look fine, though I think those arrays would look way too far out.  That being said, no model changes are going to happen since I'm well into texturing.

By the way, I'm back from camping so I'll be picking this up again this week.

Did some reconstruction to the secondary hull and interhull.  The mesh was making a mess out of the mapping so I needed to straighten out the lines.

Not that I have anything against your decision to have a solid phaser strip on the ventral side of the saucer. Just saying, that since your into remodelling it anyways, perhaps JTKs "venture styled refit" might not be a bad idea :P

Mapped and textured most of the area I rebuilt.  Flows a lot better now than it did before.  The top of the engineering hull swoops down a little steeper than it did before, but I think it adds a bit more character, a little more distinct from the Galaxy class.

I also textured on the forward launcher area.  Modeling it in was giving off some pretty ugly smoothing areas that I couldn't seem to resolve, and the texture looks convincing enough.

I also did more work to the spine and belly of the engineering hull.

I've included a forward ortho so you can sort of see the swoop of the engineering hull along the top.

Now to start adding details to that big ventral saucer.
