Secondary installs
« on: September 11, 2010, 08:34:55 AM »
A lot of people talk about adding a secondary install of BC that they use for betas, etc.  i've picked up the newer version of KM in order to get around the frustration of 1.0 deactivating a lot of mod chunks the minute you add any new ships.

i intended to stick a new copy with the updated KM on my older hard drive, but I don't know if it will work at all.

i dont understand what this thread is meant for?
are you asking about how to make a secondary install?  also, is this about bridges?

this has nothing to do with KM...  ive added like a hundred ships and never had this problem...
generally, something like this might occur when you install a ship with a faulty carrier, but that problem is easily fixed...

secondary installs are easy, you should be able to just run the installer again (set a new destination first)  if you can't figure that out, you can copy your existing install and paste it in the new folder.  I've got about 4 separate installs of BC on my machine.

im still lost as to reason of this thread lol
what exactly is it youre wondering about?  if the newest KM will run on an old card?  or are you having troubles creating a 2nd install of BC?

to make a new install, put the disc in the drive, and click reinstall...  before it goes through the process, it asks you where you want to install it (default is C:\Program Files\Activision i think) - simply create a new directory like C:\Games\BC Install 2 (or whatever you want to name it and where you want it to go) and install it from there...  then it will ask you if you want a shortcut on the desktop, click yes and your new shortcut will point to your new install with the new name of your install...

putting spare on b-drive?  dunno...  i guess try it and see?

lol easy way to make multiple installs is just install a stock BC with 1.1 patch then copy that install and paste it where you want and rename the main folder to like KM 1.1 install and then create a shortcut to the exe in that folder.

so then you would have a stock install and a modded install
just keep the stock install around for when you want to make more sep installs.
Canon is what people argue exists on ships that don't exist.
