Quick mod recommendations

Hi, I've decided I'm getting bored of Legacy and I want to get BC.

What mods will I need to make the game as visually good as possible? Effects/shaders/backgrounds and so on. There seem to be allot, but I'm sure there are some better than others.

Can anyone spare a second to point me in the right direction?

if you want to do all that + add a bunch of ships all in one shot I'd get KM beta 2009.12 and 2010.02

Definitely, due to the awesome ships (some low poly, all of them easily moddable) and that it has Additional resolutions for widescreen monitors. Hands down fun- blind firing (nemesis style), high quality bridges, and add DS9 Xtended for additional missions, systems, and sun glare Fx.
