performance differences in the wii?
« on: April 30, 2011, 10:52:08 PM »
I don't think there are any local service places for the wii so I'll be needing to replace mine and was wondering if anyone knew about the stats of the wii, such as processor and such, and if there was any difference from the white version to the black and more recently red versions as far as under the hood goes. I know they come with different bundels but none of that crap really interests me anyways.
I just realised something. I've released over 300 fully modded ships for bridge commander. Bow to your master :D

here's the Wikipedia article: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wii#Technical_specifications

from what I could tell, there is no difference.

And of course, graphics wise, it's pretty much the least capable system out there right now.  Nowhere near the quality of the 360 or PS3, since it's basically a tweaked Gamecube.

Red has the Wii Motion Plus built into the included controller, I know its not too major, but makes it easier to hold, Plus there is a new system to be announced at E3 that is said to be more capable than the Xbox 360, or PS3

E3 Expo: June 7-9, 2011

A simple Google Search, solves alot :)

Rumour has it that the new Nintendo console will have controllers similar to it's competitors, with one added difference: A touch screen in the middle. Bunch of various concept images at https://www.facebook.com/NintendoStream

when? Wonder if it will still play old gamecube and wii games?

I can't imagine that it wouldn't be able to play Wii games.  I doubt Nintendo would alienate all the new gamers they've built up by dropping what made it popular.  And I can't see a reason for it to not be able to play Gamecube games either.  On the downside, the console will not be out until probably mid to late 2012.

As for the Wii being graphically inferior...it still has some very pretty games.  Despite being gameplay nightmares, the Sonic games for the Wii look fantastic.  Unfortunately, only Sonic Colors is worth getting.  The Super Mario Galaxy games are gorgeous.  Twilight Princess is still very nice graphically.  And of course Smash Brothers.  So yeah Starforce2, I'm right there with ya.  Stick with Nintendo.

Oh, sidenote about the rumors for the new Nintendo console.  It's supposedly going to be superior to both the 360 and PS3 and Nintendo is supposedly going to overhaul their online gaming system.  Let's pray for a new Smash Bros. with true online gameplay.

To Boldly Go...Again.
