Help with a retexture.
« on: October 16, 2011, 02:17:50 AM »
i did a retexture of a ship so it can be the same colour as the D'deridex Romulan warbird in DS9, yet the glows in game are much brighter than how i edited them, and when i enable the enhanced glow feature, the ship literally glows as if it was a giant ghost :P, and well i need a bit of help fixing this issue. Any help would be appreciated.
the ship i am re-texturing is http://bridgecommander.filefront.com/file/Ame_Kerchan_Romulan_Cruiser;23886. Since i will not release it if the problem is fixed, i need not to acquire approval i assume.

Well I'd guess that the alpha channel got messed up while you were editing the textures. Had that happen to me once, lol.  :funny

Well the way I do it is kinda involved but seems to work well enough. I'd recommend getting TGA Tool off of BC Files and then use that to open up whatever you want to edit. Then you can send either the main image or the alpha to paint and save it from there to your desktop, then edit the saved bmp in GIMP and then copy/paste it back into paint (have to send back to paint from TGA tool first) and then just paste and save and then reload in TGA Tool and bam! done. Kinda a pain but it seems to work for me.

actually you can set TGA tool to use whatever editor you want, you just have to point it to the exe.

the easiest thing to do would be to replace the textures with a grid pattern and load it in game, then all you need to do is find the right part of the grid and match it up to the original texture.

Actually you could use the MPE (model propery editor) or Nifskope to review the model and textures rather than constandly reloading the game. But what Ace recommended should help you get the alignment right.

It mite, be better, to use NifScope, since MPE, can over light an object.
