Music Replacemant Mod?
« on: November 24, 2011, 03:37:37 PM »
 Hey guys,

I was just wondering if any of you guys would be interested in a mod that alters the stock music since I have collected a rather wide selection of music from various Trek movies and games and have replaced all the stock music in my install. I know I can't be the only one who gets tired of the boring stock music. If there's enough interest I may put together a mod for you guys.

You would need to get permission for the release as whole songs aren't covered under Fair Use. If you can do that I'd want it :D

But so long as I don't try to pass off the stuff as my own work or try to make any money off of it would it still be considered in violation? Kinda fuzzy on this so if anybody could clarify any possible issues I'd be grateful. But as far as the mod here's a list of the songs I can remember:

The  Dish, Temporal Wake, and Red Alert from ST: First Contact
Final Battle from ST: Generations
Surprise Attack, Khan's Pets, and Genesis Battle from ST:II TWoK
Drone Attack from Insurrection
Without Help from ST:V TFF
along with selected songs from the SFC, Starfleet Academy and Starship Creator games.

If anyone has any additional songs they think would be a nice addition to my tentaive mod please feel free to share. I'll do some digging and see if I'm technically allowed to use any of this stuff for the mod.

You'll have to have it hosted somewhere other than bcfiles.

With the way BCFiles has been lately I'm sure that would be for the best. I still need to do some tweaking of the audio (matching the levels and such) but other than that it's pretty much ready to go. I'd like to use some music from the Ultimate Universe mod because it's really awesome. Anyone here know who I need to ask about that?

Well I've finally gotten to a good point with the music files I've gathered from various sources and have decided to release it. Included in the pack are songs from many of the Star Trek Movies, a few of the old ST games and also a few tracks from the UUM. Also a surprise or two here and there. I've tried to avoid having anything repeat itself and hope that if you do download it, you enjoy it. I'll post a link here and in BC Downloads.

As far as I know, even though it's not for profit, it's still distribution of copyrighted works, which would fall under piracy.  I'm pretty sure both BC Files and BC Central don't approve of that.

well there's the link anyways. Not trying to step on any toes or cross any lines, just wanted to do something nobody else had done yet.  :banghead:
