Retexturing a Constitution or Miranda class
« on: January 24, 2012, 11:45:02 PM »
I was wondering is it possible to use for example WZ's Constitution Refit (looks very much like the studio model, great work by the way) and apply the textures from WC (great work on the other Enterprises by the way and the ship textures look like they do on the studio model)? And is it possible to add docking ports and phaser balls as well? And if Nifskope could help or other free programs capable of adding them? I wanted to do the same for the Miranda kit. It is all for personal use. Sorry still a newbie to all of this. :). I just wanted to change the Enterprise refit, the Enterprise-A, and the Reliant. Before anyone asks, I looked at the other Constitutions and while some look good, I just thought that if the different textures on this one would give it a studio model look. Thanks for any help you guys can give and sorry if it is too much to ask.

if u know how to Map and model it would be possible, as wileys textures are not Mapped to WZ connie but u should really ask both people for permission first as i would get offended if it was me lol but also it might NOT be possible IF they have screwed up somewhere with size's (not likely but it is possible)

 :yeahthat:

You can map textures from one connie to another. But there might me allignment issues. I have used both Wileys TOS connies textures and DJ's Galaxy textures when mapping my own versions of those ships so the Textures should be interchangable.

Beside I'm not insulted that you don't want to use my connies with working shuttle bays and approved by Andrew Probert ;) :P

that wouldnt be needed if it is for personal use and not meant for a public release...

@baz1701: Yours is pretty cool to. I do like that it does have the shuttlebay and the correct shuttle launching. I use yours too to play the game. Kudos on the work you put into it. @Phoenix: I would always ask permission before doing something like this. It is more like a what if question. Thanks Jimmy, that is all I am using it for, not to profit or pass off someone else's work as my own.

No worries. I would only use this for me and help me to get better at making changes to the models.

I am trying to figure out how to put phasers bumps on from WZ's Miranda to WZ's Constitution. So far the Engineering Hull textures from WC's Enterprise Refit to WZ's Constitution refit don't align. I still want to upgrade WZ's Constitution (Just the Enterprise refit and A) and Miranda including the docking ports.

Forgive me if I missed it, but do you have a modeling program of some sort?  That would be the only way to get the Phaser turrets onto a model.

@eclipse: I downloaded Blender, GMax, Nifskope. I use the Photoshop on a trial basis.

Best way would be to somehow get your .nif file into those programs and create half spheres to place in each turret spot.

Then in photoshop (Gimpshop is a free graphics program that edits TGA files also) create your texture and then map the turret to that file.

I am using Gimpshop. @Wiley Coyote: I was not sure if you attempted to put your current refit Enterprise textures on Khaliban's Constitution. That would look awesome. No pun intended to BAZ1701's Enterprise and his accuracy of the shuttlebay as well.

I tend to now put textures on my own ships.
