Title: Kyoto Class
Post by: Cube on January 28, 2007, 12:23:06 PM
The USS Kyoto is making a comeback - well, it's finally going to make it into BC.

An attack ship, roughly as long as the Intrepid. It's a post-Nemesis ship. It has Klingon weapons I'll let Nebula say more jibberish about that, tho. (He designed the ship).

Model: Nebula
Textures: Gdluque (tempoary parts by Cube)
Mapping: Cpt. Hooker (small modifications by Cube)
Glows: Cube

Textures are unfinished.

In-game shots. Just needs some textures sprucing up, and a HP, and speculars and stuff.

Looks pretty good; I think the textures could be a little better, and it could do with some high-contrast speculars.

I really like this ship. Stylish design.

I'd only change one thing and that is on the nacelles put some ribbing to break up the blueness a bit, sort of like reinforced struts/shielding.

**I'm cloning here my last post on CA Forums**

Ok... I'm doing completly the entire hull from the deepest layers even...

All this new work will be done on Ultra High Resolution whit tracered vectors...

I falled at count, that even the "black" klingon tattoes over the hull were missplaced... perhaps looks fine, but do not resist a detailled exam...

Here is the work until this point... I'm doing panel by panel over the hull  and it's looking quiet good at this point (I think)

The old "tattoo" over the main hull must be removed I think, or perhaps must be replaced whit some new one alligned whit the panels of the main hull, the ones placed over the "wings" are ok I think...

...But I'm not sure about the results... Opinions needed here please, about this matter...

Some screenies...

The patter on the wings is OK, but if you ask me, make less of them on the hull, it's too overcrouded now.

Oh, and hi G :D

If someone asks you if they could port this to A2, SFC3 or Legacy, tell them to go to hell.

This is Bridge Commanders baby and is sure to put BC in the history books (exadurating but hey, I like to think big  )

Cannot wait for this one. Im anticipating it more then LCs intrepid, just a tiny bit more, and thats saying something!

lol, definitly we have a Warship as we were looking for. Another name for her could be "USS BAK" (Borg Ass Kicker)
Definitly we have a Borg Hunter...

I'm getting improvments whit the HP, but I'm still feeling that it's a bit overpowered... To much for my taste... More balance it's required, and yeah Neb, we have a mighty Warp Core here... (I'm working on some balance decreasing the capacity of the reserve power looking for no abuse of the seccondary strategic weapons, like Cloaking Device and Tachyon Beam)

Ok, this is what we have so far until this point:(Note that this weaponary will suffer changes, this is just for alignment and contruction pourpouses)

Weapons:

-2 Dorsal Main Phaser Banks
-2 Dorsal-Lateral Phaser banks
-2 Dorsal-Backward Phaser banks
-Tachyon Pulse (Main deflector emitter)
-2 Pulse Klingon Type Cannons
-2 forward torpedo launchers
-2 backward torpedo launchers
-Phalatium Wave (optional-just for testing pourpouses)

Systems / Tactical:

-Primary Shields
-Seccondary Shields
-1 Gravity Generator
-Enhanced Sensor System
-Cloaking Device
-Rear and front Shuttle Bays
-2 Tractor Beams
-Advanced Warp Core

Since this ship it's between the size of Defiant and Intrepid classes, I'm making her just agile between both types of ships...

Ok, updates will come soon, and here you have a couple of screenies more...

The pulse phasers on the tips of the nacelles are for taking down the shields the other two are the heavy pulse phasers

GD-:
Try this (learned from one of Laurlin's posts) set your pulse phasers back a tad bit into the mesh, you will have to adjust it Manually, once they are placed , use the X or Y coordinate and just start adjusting the numbers

I love that kinda Defiant-EVO.
for better edition (if you're not already using it) use the TDE. it should be on BCFiles.
aligning icons half-blind in MPE is by far annoying.

Yeah, I'm using it all the time... Whatever, I'm still making some adjustments at hand as tiqhud suggest here, cos TDE it's very limitated on some aspects...

No offence but it occurs to me that for a ship of that small size you could have used a few more polygons and made the whole thing look a lot smoother.

Uh?

What i meant was that the ship looks like its a model. If you added more detail it would make the ship look like CGI. Im not talking about escape pods, warp ejection plate..etc.. i mean just make the curves look more curvy rather than having it look like its made up of a 10 sided shape...

Looking good G.

I think I might try and make the hull plating a bit more pronounced, but that's just personal preference, I don't think it would overly affect the look too much.

Also, I do think that some of the windows should be off.  From what I've seen, usually only about a third of a ships windows appear to be on at one time.  The Enterprise D always had most of them off iirc.

anyhoo, keep it up, it's looking good.

How about a Klingon crewed vessel with Klingon text for the Name and NCC instead of UFP font, the name being the I.K.S or U.S.S. Narenda (III?)? I think that would be a fitting name for a joint Klingon/Federation vessel.

Check this at next... This was answered before... Anyway, thx about the suggestion...

I was wondering if its not to late if u have given thought to create Klingon lettering for her on her hull like USS Kyoto in Klingon since she is a ship of both empires

just a thought... i was thinking that USS Khitomer would make a good name for this or another ship of its class.

I did not mean this ship. But I did mean Klingon Font instead of the Standard font. O well, I'll D/L it either way.

Nice looking ship!

Just 1 suggestion:
Why instead of a gravity generator don't you put a anti-gravity generator? Tactically, it's much better.

nice vid there G.
I'd adjust the damage settings to make it look really armored.
there has to be two values in the ship file (scripts/ships) Burn Value and Hole Value. adjust them so they're more or less:
Burn Value: 15% of ship's hull
Hole Value: 80% of ship's hull

they're tricky, but the final effect is really like in the shows

Now, that's what I call a video presentation!! You guys should consider releasing that video to BCF. And on behalf of the BCF Staff, Thanks for the "Shout out" in the credits.

On the Ship name(s) considered. U.S.S. Nerendra sounds appropriate IMHO. As the Enterprise-C's sacrifice cemented the peace between the Klingons and the Federation.-BR32

Well, to post it on BCfiles it's my intention, but I can't find the FTP correct data... Can help me on this? Looks like my server data it's outdated...

You may have noticed some "holes" in the model (Most noticable was that the right nacelle was hanging off the rest of the model). Those have now been fixed.

Hey Cube, I got the model to open up with the maxscript, however, what I got was not the Kyoto.  Well... it was, just not the Kyoto in any recognizable form, lol.  Kinda looked like it had been eaten by a space monster and then regurgitated. :D

We can chat more about it later on MSN.

Long time no see.

Apologies for the bad BFF model - I tested it and it was fine.

Is there anyone with Max 9 that could convert the newer model (I'll give the BFF another go if not)?

Edit: A screenshot of the settings I should have for 3DS Max NIFtools could also be handy.

I can see the areas where the model might need fixing, but still, all in all, a nice little ship.  One weird quirk though, when no target is selected, the pulse weapons fire at weird angles.
