Quote

        * Right click your cd drive, and select open in new window
        * Goto the setup folder
        * right click _ISDel select properties
        * Go to the Compatibility tab
        * Enable compatibility mode and select windows xp (service pack 3)
        * And then run setup.exe from within the setup folder.

The final game works fine without changing anything. If you don't want to go through this setup just copy your old install from a different computer. (Or just use your old install if you upgraded)

Tried this - it doesn't do anything. I can let it sit there for hours, and it won't do anything beyond the splash screen...

Sorry that didn't help.

Considering all the Window updated, I've found out both Window 7 and 10, don't like games pre-2005. in my case with Windows 7, I had to find an emulator to get the audio working.

But I'm sure someone here, has it working on Windows 10.

What did you do then to get it working?

I also recently installed on Windows 10 with no error.  However, when I started up the game, menu buttons wouldn't show up.  I minimized the program and went back in and everything showed.  Also, with the patch installed and running in test mode, that doesn't even happen.

yeah, I'm glad everyone has it working. But unless the next person that posts explains to me how they got it to work, or what they did, no one is really helping me, other than making me feel frustrated and upset that everyone else is getting it to work fine on Windows 10, but for some reason it's not wanting to install for me...

Where are you installing it?  Programs?  Or separate directory?

What exactly is your problem?
Does it stop directly the install splash-screen or does it go further?

I usually install BC (or any other program) directly using the provided setup.exe, and set the compatibility for that to winXP, if need be.
(This should tickle through to all other processes called)

I would see the "Star Trek: Bridge Commander" splash screen, and the InstallEngine (32-bit) warm-up window (where it fills up to 100%). And then it would sit there for about 5 minutes, and then disappeared.

So, here is what I did last night. I tried one last time. And I went to bed with the computer running. I wake up this morning, and the installation window for STBC was finally up. So I managed to get the game installed now. But for some reason, it seems to take like 30 minutes or more for it to finally come up. Anyone know what could be causing this problem?

I've had that same issue with windows 7

BC sometimes doesn't like to run the installer right away.

Yup I had the same thing happen on my win 10 install, it just sat there for a while, I messed with compat settings and everything and nothing helped, went to get some food and a drink, came back and the installer was there, I was all just "WTF?" now as a sort of extension the game suffers FPS issues all over the place, got a weird anomaly where camera and mouse movement is a smooth 60fps or higher, but any ingame animations, both on the bridge or in the tactical view are at 10FPS at best, anyone else had this happen? (sorry for the slight hijack Brex but I get the feeling asking this here will help us both out.)

Yeah, my Win10 Setup works fine.  I think though it's where I installed Win7 first and upgrade to 10

that might be it then, my old win 7 install got wiped when I had to replace my CPU and mobo (AMD to Intel = bad times for the OS) so I had to re-install it.
