Love that last ship but I find the shark decals are a little much.

I agree, but that's the way it was originally made and I respect the authors intentions. Plus, the design of the ship is cool.

I think WZ included hull textures without the Shark details in the original SFC release.

I actually like the shark teeth in the case of this ship. I know that Starfleet is a peace-keeping force of exploration but during times of war, certain ship designs were specifically made as warships to defend Federation interests... such as the Defiant.

This ship was made as a more powerful supplement to the Defiant Class and is considered a Heavy Destroyer. And believe me, it packs a punch. The teeth were painted on to put some fear into the enemy... and once again, I like that idea.

I can see after utilizing the ship during war time that it can be refitted for exploration and diplomatic/escort missions.

Oh I'm quite familiar with the ship and her intended role.  I doubt she'd ever be refitted for exploration.  She was designed for one thing in mind, taking out the enemy.  Plain and simple.  In fact, it's those weapons pods on either side that inspired the rollbar design on my Enforcer refit of the Miranda Class.

I just merely pointed out that WZ had non-shark detail textures included with the original SFC version of the ship.  I guess they were never ported to BC.

Well, getting rid of the teeth is easy enough to do with Photoshop. In fact, that's exactly what I've done. I have a spare folder that has the non-teeth version I created. I just decided to take the screenshot with the teeth this time. Reminds me of the WW2 P40 Warhawk fighter planes... that's where WZ got the inspiration IIRC.

BTW Centurus, I checked out your profile and noticed that you're down in LA. I'm up in Silicon Valley. So we're downright neighbors considering that so many of our fellow members are either over seas or in other parts of the U.S.

no offence Bashir, you've done some very good pics, but this one doesn't hit me strongly. The ships appear to be old, which kinda downgrades the quality. and the fact you used two ugly variants of two famous classes. Sorry bashir. Not your best work IMHO

Oh, WickedZombie's stuff. They're not as bad as they look on that screen, however WZ's techniques are.

kiddo, that crack above is the reason some of us walk away without even trying.  especially when you're just getting into your groove.

Well, he bashed the ships themselves rather than the actual image.  If anyone has cause to take offense, it should be Wicked Zombie.

Totally disagree. These ships may not have been built using the best modeling techniques but they're still fine ships and designs - and I think Bashir's pic is simple, yet a good one nonetheless.

And I have to state something that's bothered me for a while that has been occasionally mentioned here and there in different threads.

IT DOESN'T MATTER IF A SHIP IS CONSIDERED "OLD". IF IT'S STILL A GOOD/GREAT MOD - IT'S STILL A GOOD/GREAT MOD... period!

On another note, cookies for Kill and McKinney for the last batch of shots. Excellent stuff gentlemen.

So what????   Doesn't detract from the shot.  And a lot of others will agree THAT C should have been canon to begin with!  If you're going to complain about what ships people use you'll start hearing the word troll soon.
