I LOVE that last one. Such a beautiful ship and the lightning makes her look even better. Just a shame it isn't the Enterprise. :p

Agreed. That last one is an excellent shot.

But I'm actually glad it's not the Enterprise. We see enough Enterprises. It's nice to see other ships here and there.

Hey Mckinney, I'm curious, what are your system specs where you have BC installed?

Which specific Core 2 Quad processor?

Right click on My Computer, then go to properties.

Also, what AA and AF settings are you using?

I'm asking these questions for a specific reason that I'll tell you about after your response.

Q8300 @2.50GHz (whatever that means)

AA is set to 8xS and AF is set to 16x

Here's Jimmy!

That means that you have a decently powerful CPU   :yay:

BTW, what does the "Here's Jimmy!" refer too?

OK, so here's the reason I originally asked for your system specs. I've always noticed that the models (whatever they may be) used in your screenshots look very smooth and quite realistic. So, I was wondering what your AA and AF settings were as they obviously make things look much better the higher they are set at. The trade off however is that game play frames-per-second suffers greatly the higher the AA/AF settings are. That's why I also asked you about your general system specs.

On my system with my previous video card, I too had my AA/AF settings at 8x & 16x (with the AA in quality, full scene mode... just makes things look a bit better) but when I took screenshots at those settings, even though my pictures turned out quite nice, I still saw a bit of aliasing here and there. I just purchased a new, significantly more powerful video card and now play at 16x AA & between 16 and 32x AF and the screenshots and game play are incredible.

Now here's the real question: do you actually play QB at your AA/AF settings or do you bump them up just for screenshots? As for me, I play and screenshot all at the same settings. And the real test is when I have a lot of models during game play. Things only start to visually slow down when I have about 30 or so ships loaded - and only slightly at that. My screen resolution is 1920x1080 and for screenshots, I usually size them down to save on file size for faster uploads.

Bottom line, not only are your pics wonderfully layed out, but also of very high quality

007Bashir and Killallewoks also have very similar quality on their shots.

Sorry to deviate from the norm of this thread but I was just curious  :D

The settings I use really do push my poor pc to the limit, you'll notice I only show one or two ships at a time. To try and get a better performace at the higher settings I have resized textures etc

I often forget to bump down the settings when playing QB, most of the time I just turn the specs off and I can play a good one on one battle.

Thanks for the compliments. I really enjoy making the screen shots, most of the credit should go to Killallewoks as he has the patience of a saint with all my questions and he taught us how to us edit mode

Yes, kill has graciously provided a lot to us in the way of screenshot-ing.  :)

But I think that the level of quality elevated to the point where it is now is IMO due to Tally.

True and Tally has provided me with words of encouragement to keep pushing myself to the next level

Also my title is because Kirk would show up and either help two war peoples or show them how to kill each other better

guys I'm humbled that you hold me in high regard but it is you that push and continue to push your imagination and the games boundaries. I only pointed in the right direction where I could help.

I know I don't post in here anymore, I feel a tit for pulling my pics but did feel a bit p****d ... but whats done is done.

I help where I can and yes I dabble with screenshots still but in all honesty lack of mojo and real life have taken a hold on me these last few months....upside is that I enjoy seeing what the rest of you guys have come up with, and it is nice to know that I have inspired.

With the WIP and the since released works I hope you all long continue to be creative in your excellent shots

heres a couple for old times sake

Great to see the Masters back!

Sorry folks for my lack of shots lately, real life is being a bitch. Had a window broken at the weekend and fighting with the Government to get moved so I can find work

Love your shots Tally!

I never really left.  :funny Though I have an idea, I could set up my shots in BC have a fiddle and stuff then when i'm satisfied render it all Max and then photoshop.

Kinda like using BC as an idea platform, if it doesn't crash.

Here is an example, using my background from the Max rendered shot I did it in BC.
