Stargate Sg-1 X-303 Bridge
« on: September 18, 2007, 03:58:37 PM »
A few of you here might have wondered why the lack of updates for the crew and uniforms pack... This is why. so for the first big project,the newly formed JL Studios (myself and limey, thats were the J and L come come  8)) has taken on the challenge of bridge making. We thought that, BC lacks other genres bridges and with Dave's Stargate Pack released a few months ago, we thought, as being stargte fans, to start with stargate bridges. If you don't no them, you should be ashamed of yourself lol, but you can use this as reference to check the how canon the bridge is

http://www.stargatecaps.com/sg1/s6/612/html/6x12%5F0005.html

So let me introduce you to the X-303 bridge also known as the Prometheus.

The model was created and  mapped by limey98, optimized by Sean, textured by me, Jb06, just undergoing final lightmapping by Sean and scripted by LJ and limey98. Animations will be undergoing as soon as we can figure them out.

If you want to keep track with this bridge, along with other projects, like the Lost City of Atlantis, come over to BCS.

Enjoy!!

What do you guys think?

Looks amazing. You wouldn't have a beta that needs testing, now would you?
Can I ask you if you have any other Stargate bridges in plan?
(Oddisey, Gou'auld mothership, freighter..)

thanks. the beta tester slots have been filled up, before we even started the project, but if we need anymore, you'll be the first person we ask.

The other bridges we have planned are:

    * X-303 varients - retextures
    * BC-304
    * Ori
    * Hatak
    * Potentially Asgard (if we can find decent pics)
    * Lantean
    * Tel'Tak

I think the bridge looks awesome.

For BC positioning i'd suggest:

Helm (Carter's position in that screenshot)
Tactical (Teal'cs position in that screenshot)
First Officer (Forward station next to "viewscreen")
Science & Engineering (Opposite sides of the "display" behind the captain)

While it's never been said which positions are what, Teal'cs position has been shown with a human officer manning the weapons so it could be assumed that it's tactical, and Carters position was used for piloting. All other stations are basically, whatever you decide.

Well, my esteemed colleague missed a few :P! We will be doing all the varients of the 304's, which are, i think, just retextures of the starmap at the back! Also, if we can iron a few kinks out, 302 and Death Glider 'bridges' may be in order. Puddle Jumper should work. Potentially Replicator bridges! Also, a slight change to the Tel'Tak bridge gives the Alkesh bridge!

I think the bridge looks awesome.

For BC positioning i'd suggest:

Helm (Carter's position in that screenshot)
Tactical (Teal'cs position in that screenshot)
First Officer (Forward station next to "viewscreen")
Science & Engineering (Opposite sides of the "display" behind the captain)

There are actually 2 more stations that arn't seen in that screenshot, just to either side of Thor (the guy sitting in the chair right at the edge of the shot). These 2 are Science and Engineering. We have put the XO slightly behind and to the left of the Engineering station, putting them on the far left as you look from the captains chair. The positions seem to jump around a bit with the different varients, and also on the 304 bridge.

This is gonna sound like a really n00bish question, but how the heck do you set keyframes in 3D Studio Max 9? I am trying to create some new animations for the bridge, but can't really get onto the animating part! Just posing!

As for progress...Sean says he is about 35% through the lightmapping, but is just touching up some of the textures. He has updated the starmap at the back already:

Spoiler: show

But, and I quote from BCS here, 'tho not sure if it will work in game as we have had trouble recreating that effect since version one of the excalibur bridge'.

Err, don't even waste the time, animations made in max 9 are totaly useless at BC.
You need to be at max 3 to create then.

I have no idea why I typed 9! I did in fact mean 3! I have both. It gets kinda confusing!

There's a big button at the bottom bar called animate.
When it`s turned off, every movement you do with an object will be keyframed.
You can also select an object and right click over the timeline, a box will popup asking to which keyframes to add.

WOW how can you apply animated texture to single display ? cuz this doesn't look like 5 maps posing as anim like in every bridge we saw so far...
great job on this display btw.  :D

do you guys need any help with displays texture cuz I could help you with them a bit, just need some reference pics cuz I never watched any stargate series only movie so far
