Nothings confirmed unless stated by JJ Abrams, Kurtzman/Orci and/or Paramount. Until then, all of the above is pure speculations, probably started by people who don't want Trek XI to be made.

Actually, the first paragraph is all Orci's words from a Star Trek convention :P.

I dont see why these speculations are anti XI, its perfectly natural for people to hazard a guess at the story of anticipated films.

I think he (Darkthunder) doesn't like them, and thus interprets them that way (no offense intended, it's just how it looks to me).
I still can't read peoples minds, nor can I read peoples computers, even worse, I can't combine the two to read what is going wrong with your BC install...

I didn't say it WAS Anti Trek-XI, i'm just saying that all these speculations unless confirmed by the officials, probably were started by people who don't want Trek XI to happen. Of which there are quite a few.

EDIT: Read the paragraph you mentioned, and nothing really say's it's automatically a "Spock Movie" or that it will be set on Pike's Enterprise, or that Kirk will be a minor character. Spock plays a major role most likely since they have both Old Spock (TNG-era) as well as Pre-TOS Spock. I do however agree with the last line stating:

Quote
He then went on to say that it would have been damaging to the story to put William Shatner in the film.

While it would be great to see Shatner play the role one more time, he simply is dead and if they had any plans to bring the character back, they would've done so sooner. As long as the movie is good, and holds true to the ideals of Trek, as far as i'm concerned they can rewrite history as much as they like. It is the ideals of Trek that are most important, not the 40-year history of dozens if not hundreds of writers throughout the years giving their own takes on how things are in the world of Trek.

Well, one could only wish that "Enterprise" could be included in that alternate timeline. It would be nice to find out that the entire series never happened.

Remove any reference to the Temporal Cold War and Enterprise was a pretty good show. :P

I know this topic is old, but I want to throw this out there.  I don't think we can completely judge what the ship will look like.  You have to remember this.  This is a teaser.  It is designed to catch our attention.  The shot with the Enterprise's saucer and nacelles...well, look at it this way.  For one thing, the nacelles are too close together.  Why?  Because they're not attached.  However, as they are now, when you see it for all of 10 seconds, you know exactly what ship it is.  Secondly, the registry.  Too close to the front of the saucer rim you say?  Yes, and no.  I highly doubt Starfleet would actually emblazon the ship's name on the saucer if it was still being constructed.  However, with the name cleverly front and center in the teaser, yet again, it lets us fans know exactly what ship it is.  As for it "snapping" you have to see that the ship is, as I said, in pieces.  When the shot is panning up towards the dorsal side of the saucer, you can see that there is nothing under the ship other than scaffolding holding it up.  And even if said connections were in place, those sections that would "snap" are very big, comparatively.

If i may.

But i think personly that it is a pretty wird idea to go back in time, from the Soverign to this ship...

Why not come up with Star Trek Titan, (the ship Riker get's after the battle with the Schimitar)

But thats just the way i think.

Well, because TOS has the biggest mainstream appeal to date, did you not notice how Nemesis bombed?
What would be the appeal in the Titan? for starters, it's already got it's very own book series which would be null and void if a film about it would be made or, the books would be a pre-requisite for it, which is not feasible. And lastly, the same old, tired faces that we've seen since 1987? Yeah no, thank you very much...

Personally, I find it a great idea to re-visit TOS with the production values of 2008 - Plus, it can bring back new life and new fans into a rather stale and very much declining franchise. I mean, let's be honest: Every show since TNG (DS9 only to a very small extent, but still) was essentially a re-hash of what TNG gave us, especially VOY and ENT(at least in seasons 1 and 2).

I'm all for some new (old) faces and new life for the franchise...

...and if they made a new story based on the franchise that already exists then they might keep the fans they already have.

however we are digressing, this is well off the topic of what the new enterprise looks like.

:O Seatbelts!  In Starfleet!  Blasphemy!!!  Anyway, that "shuttle" looks too big to be a standard Starfleet shuttlecraft, I'd assume it's somewhat like the "tram" that Adm. Kirk rode in back to Starfleet HQ in TMP.  The control panel looks fine to me, but could be made slightly more futuristic. :P  The uniform....that's a bit iffy.  If it's an Enterprise crew-member's, then fine, but the delta's still wrong. :P

Keep in mind by the way, that those might be cadet uniforms (the movie takes place while they're the Academy, right?) you're seeing.

As for the tech not being advanced enough, who knows, I mean, Earth was devastated by a nuclear war, technical aesthetics may have moved backward a bit. As for the old argument that communicators are obsolete since the invention of cell phones, remember that cell phones bounce around towers and low-orbit satellites to work. A communicator connects to FRIGGIN SPACE.

I enjoyed this:

"His portrayal of Scotty will be his own, not an imitation of James Doohan's work. 'I didn't want to go in there and do an impression of James Doohan. His Scotty is so definitive. So I decided to just channel my wife's family and do something that was a tribute to him but not an attempt to ape him.'"

Any one else notice how dirty it looks on the inside?  I say this because I don't think its a fleet shuttle... and given all the construction workers in the pictures, well, I think its a civilian vehicle. And an old one at that.
