Given that every ST movie so far has been progressing the story (Even going back to the '80's was progression, as it started and ended in the TMP timeline, same for First Contact), and that it's all been just that, progress (The introduction of the Sovereign Class, for one) I think I'm correct in saying that they are canon (And alot would agree).

I did personally enjoy Enterprise, though I'm still on the fence about it being canon (Not bashing it, just genuinely unsure what to call it). And according to TOS, wasn't Spock aboard the Enterprise or another ship during Kirks academy days?

No, you're right, I'm looking forward to American Pie: The Original Original Series.

...Probably not, but the number I get(379.6m) could be considered ?original intent,? a term that I think I will be using from now on, and ?canon? be damned.

IIRC, Spock and  Kirk met aboard the Enterprise.

hmmmm,.... shouldn't it be Kirk/Spock/Bones instead of Kirk/Spock/Uhura the leading cast?
just thinking....

Uniform color dude, uniform color.;) Yellow, blue, red and black makes more sense than yellow, blue, blue and black ya know? Each quadrant had to be a different color red - plus there is the whole can't have a sausage fest kinda thing ether, so they basically had no choice BUT to put Saldana in there.

What? I didn't understand that last post.
"Books are not canon, only what you see on screen. Yes, even the horrible Voyager episode where they go past warp 10 and have crazy lizard babies."

I've seen some pics of Karl Urban that really remind me of DeForrest's McCoy, visually anyway.  Also, in regards to Nero...one of the writers(i can't remember which one) has been quoted as saying, "We never said Nero was a Romulan," in response to questions about the ears.  So, either he is a Romulan and fought Mike Tyson or he's a defector.  I'm personally leaning towards a defected human, myself.

I think Nero is Romulan, "Nero Claudius Caesar Augustus Germanicus" was the 5th and last Roman Emperor of the Julio-Claudian dynasty. And since the Romulan empire is so very similar to the Roman Empire. It wouldn't surprise me.

Also I found this somewhere.

Clockwise: John Cho - Sulu, Simon Pegg - Scotty, Karl Urban - McCoy, Anton Yelchin - Chekov.

You know, looking exactly like the character doesn't really matter to me, but that guy is way off from the Scotty of TOS. However, this won't matter if his acting is spot on.

hmmm... the lighting doesn't do them justice.... took me a while to figure who they were, and even the caption didn't clear that up at first...

Acually, he was the only one I could actually tell was scotty.  The others I really can't tell who's who.
Simon pegg does it justice just on this posted lol
I miss :bigdance:

Figured I'd update this thread with some new images that were recently released, courtesy of MTV, UGO, TrekMovie.com, IGN and JoBlo.

I'd like to first point out to all "TOS purists": Don't have a hissy fit over the look of things, I actually quite like it AND I liked TOS.

I may quibble on the design points of the bridge, but I like the general aesthetic and how it's lit.  Very in keeping with the spirit of TOS.

Coming soon, I hope

And here I thought the original TOS bridge looked a little goofy. :P What I want to know is why Spock is choking the hell out of Kirk?

i was checking this out a couple hours ago on the trekBBS actually,
And i have to say, Im really not liking the Bridge, And its not because it doesn't resemble the TOS bridge,
I just think its aesthetically unappealing.
Can anyone say "Galaxy Quest", ?

Uh...
Not sure I like it. At all...
I'll still go to watch it, but Idk... just looks more like a kid's show to me. The bridge looks a lot like Andromeda to me, too. Prolly those Lcars. Though I do admit it kinda looks nifty... :3

Idk, perhaps it's just because it's more raw and no real lighting effects or anything have been added yet...? idk. Really love that CGI scene, though.

Can anyone say "Galaxy Quest", ?

Galaxy quest.
