(unknown chick on Icarus Planet, Chloe in this episode).

Not unknown. 'Twas Lt James (the one who Riley was trying to spy on with the Kino, and who pulled Eli away while Chloe was showering).

Ahh.  Thanks, Limey.  That had been bugging me!

As for Rush, I was really off-put by the end of 'Light', where we are supposed to believe that Rush might have actually known what would happen.  That's ridiculous, in my opinion.  Had he known, he would have kept the rest of the crew from launching the shuttle.  I just found that to be bad writing--trying to force drama into a situation when it's totally unnatural.

I hope that Rush's character evolves.  When he compliments Eli* he seems like a really sweet guy (I imagine the actor is in real life).  I want to see more of that, and to see him warm up to those around him.  At the very least, I want to see the crew start to respect him more.

*He complimented him twice: when Eli launched the Kino from the shuttle airlock, giving Rush a view of Destiny from the outside, and when Eli came up with the "hoverboard" of Kinos.

It's still a good show, though, and I'll keep watching for the foreseeable future.

He also put Eli down a bit in the latest episode, where Eli was talking a bit too much. "You need to learn when to shut up"

Although, I agree completely with Rush in that instance. Eli was doing mothing more than aggrivating the situation. Theres nothing that Col. Young could've done to help get rid of the "bugs", so there was no need for Young to even know about what was happening onboard ship.

Well, Rush hasn't exactly been up front about everything, and seeing as he's their Daniel Jackson, he's the only one with enough knowledge to get things done (Granted reading ancient is impressive, but this guy knows how to operate Ancient Tech, and he never got a guest spot on SG1!).

Him and Young have that natural dislike for each other, so I am guessing we'll see them almost get along, and then some tiny thing will start it off again.

To Phaser: Rush seems quite greedy, and we know that he's only interested in Destiny, not the survivors. Less people means less resources and rations used, unless of course, a swarm of reproducing, superintelligent bugs weasel through an active wormhole and get thirsty. In short, Rush would suffer no remorse from people leaving by their own will. Besides, perhaps he just wanted to watch Destiny as she burnt up. I personally think that'd be a pretty epic way to die... On a space ship thousands and thousands of years old, careening into a sun, with your favourite song on your MP3 player.

Personally I don't hate any of the characters (yet), Scott is a little annoying, which is weird, I figured Eli would've driven me out of my skull, but he's growing on me, despite his supermoral "omg u lie". I find Greer is a pretty neat character, the ability to hold a straight face no matter what he's saying and the constant tone of his voice makes him seem unpredictable. Rush and Young take the cake though, they argue so well. :P

I agree with Darkthunder, too. Eli was just making it worse. All of that information could've waited until they had managed to get the bugs to the gate, or gotten them close. Or even after they'd gotten back and WEREN'T WASTING PRECIOUS MINUTES OF AIR.  :mad

Bring on the next episode!

I like Eli's realistic moral outrage at the situation. As computer nerds and Stargate/Star Trek fans, we're pretty conditioned to expect whiter-than-white behaviour from our military chums. Eli being one of us means that reaction rang true for me.

Young's suspicion of Rush makes no sense whatsoever, as you said, Phaser. I find Scott very annoying for myriad reasons. Was anyone else blindsided by Scott and Chloe getting it on all of a sudden in Light? Where did that relationship come from?

I for one found Light very predictable, in plot terms. As soon as Darkness closed out (after that stunning aerobreaking maneuver - wow!) I knew the ship was going to save them by recharging from the sun. What I didn't expect was for the ship to dive in. That was pretty absurd. Are we expected to believe that the Alterans had shielding and hull technology that could stand up to direct contact with a star hundreds of thousands of years ago?!

It kinda makes Atlantis look like an economised construction job! Most of the crises the Atlantis expedition faced were related to shield failures, hull breaches and power constraints, even when they had all three ZPMs!

What makes it worse is that this seems to be one of the mechanics of the show - every time they're low on power, just take a jaunt into a star, and presto!

The shuttle rescue was unnecesary. It was clearly there to fill airtime, and the slingshot maneuver around the planet was so unlikely and mental.

Klingon Academy now works on XP/Vista/Win 7 thanks to one dude's patches, click here for details. I highly recommend it!

I think we are... After all Atlantis is actually older (EXTREMELY SO) than Destiny... ( I still think the time-line is a little wacked though...)

about the shuttle.
I guess I'm the only one who found a reason for the shuttle launch.....
Canon is what people argue exists on ships that don't exist.

Different shuttle, though. The mystery shuttle launched while they were in hyperspace.

Its funny someone in the show mention if they need the genetic therapy for the atlantian gene and rush said no because the ship predates that technology.

They again its a show and plots are made for they reason

I thought Destiny was older than Atlantis?

Considering Atlantis was abandoned 10,000 years ago.

And to quote Rush in the pilot

"It was launched, hundreds of thousands of years ago"

Rush is awesome. Partly because it's Carlyle and partly because I just like the character. How long until episode 7 airs over there?

You mean in the States? Should be on 9pm tonight on SyFy.

I've heard of a new release of the feature film on Blu-ray but its only getting released in the States. VLC player can play imported DVDs if your drive has been locked on a region after using up the 5 chances you have to change it. Would it be able to play imported Blu-Ray discs aswell?
Can't wait for 2014 to start.

I thought Colonel Telford was an ass this entire episode. Especially in the last six minutes of the episode. And then in the final seconds, he hit ultimate asshole status.

I thought that was a great episode, plus we got to see Destiny fire its weapons, I hope the SG modders took notes lol. I like the Eli character is going beyond comic relief like I thought he was going to be. Rush is also turning into a hell of a character, hes very cunning, and he always seems to be several steps ahead of everyone, but I get the feeling he isn't, hes just very very quick thinking. Over all I thought this was a great episode

Agreed.

Regarding Telford, his reason for confining Greer to the brig, is because something happened between them in the past which resulted in Greer "punching Telfords lights out". His other behaviour while on Destiny, is primarily caused by influence from the IOA, and orders from General O'Neill. Didn't really like how they portrayed O'Neill in this episode. He knows more than anyone, that sometimes you need to "bend" rules and orders in order to get things done.

As usual, anytime the IOA gets involved, things immediately go from bad to worse. What happened in this episode is just the latest incident.

Anyone notice the apparent new name for the SGC? "Homeworld Command Center"

No word whatsoever on what exactly happened to the SGC under Cheyenne Mountain, and no word yet on if Atlantis is still cloaked outside of San Fransisco, or if it returned to the Pegasus galaxy.
