Daedalus class Re-imagined
« on: November 26, 2007, 11:47:35 AM »
The author Aethernaut from Scifi-Meshes has designed a really cool looking version of the Daedalus class of Star Trek. No 3D model is available as of yet, but he has given permission for modellers to create a 3D or Game model of the ship so long as he is given credits for the design.

http://www.scifi-meshes.com/forums/2d-wips/36316-daedalus-class-rewritten.html

And as there are a number of excellent modellers in this community, I was hoping someone would be willing to take this project up :D

Lol and this morning I thought of designing an ENT era style daedalus (because imagining them going from NX to 4 cylinders, two pylons and a ball was a bit hard to swallow).

I was also suggesting on the sfc boards that perhaps the concept's features could be used on a model that was done in the style of the connie in this movie:

Use the Hull, deflector, nacelles ect from the movie. Keep the shape, impulse locations, exposed weapons ect.
I just realised something. I've released over 300 fully modded ships for bridge commander. Bow to your master :D

Very nice!  Fits perfectly with the alternate-universe that is 'ENTERPRISE'.  I really like the secondary hull!

I just wet myself at the Enterprise in that clip. I secretly pray that's footage from STXI

I like that Daedalus. I think it actually bridges the gap between ENT and TOS better then the NX-01 does. They should have use a Daedalus in Enterprise instead of the god awful 'Akiraprise'. Probably would have gotten higher ratings.
Can't wait for 2014 to start.

Forget the Daedalus, I want that Connie in BC!

And why does everyone seem to hate the NX-01?

Wow, peaple are still finding out about the GK Connie? Good grief the model was created in 2005 but that short clip was done last year I believe.
All hail the messiah!

I understand that I'm gravedigging but as a "nobody" on these boards I figured I'd undertake the beginnings of a project already suggested as opposed to starting a new one.

I've linked a model that I threw together over the past 48 hours of my take on the Daedalus Re-imagined. I've taken some inspiration for certain sections from various sources to include the original reference image posted here, the new Trek movie (namely the back end of the Kelvin's warp nacelle) and the pseudo-Enterprise-ish Daedalus from Star Trek Legacy.

As I model strictly in Wings 3D I do not possess any rendering software that can do a mesh justice so I invite you to simply download the model and do with as you please (giving credit of course). I honestly don't have the time or current skills to texture this ship properly so that can be left up to someone else.

If you'd like the model please let me know as the forums will not let me post a link.

I would like to see some more JJ Abrams inspired Starships :P due to the new trekkie movie that's coming out. Like, some of the TOS Ships reimagined.

This is what the Daedalus truly should have looked like.

Very nice design.

The original design however simple, is still pretty nice in it's own right though.

Would love to see what your Daedalus model looks like. FYI, you need to post more before being allowed to post links (due to various recent events with link-abuse).
