Excelsior WIP
« on: December 30, 2007, 03:31:59 AM »
started this a couple weeks ago, was'nt happy with the nacelles so i scrapped them,
polycount is 20k, after i do the nacelles and pylons it should be around 24k maybe 25.
And no im not planning on doing a Lakota/Ent B refit so you will just hafta make do with this one....for now ;).
If you want to texture her let me know, I have come to despise texturing as of late

Excellent news! To be honest, my Mithra's been boring me... so redundant in rebuilding the deflector. Maybe if I give texturing a go, it might be a nice change of pace... Never textured before, though... just a thought. I tend to type my thoughts... kinda like thinking aloud...

ANYWAYS! Yes. Can't wait. ^_^;;

keep at it man, if you end up thinking like that you will end up with a dozen un-finished models like me and you wont know where to begin when it comes time to finishing them,

how... did I know... she'd be so beautiful!?!?!?!

D*mn, some of the models you guys make around here, it's inspiring. :D

Edit: And thanks for the tip... I do tend to start projects, get them looking AMAZING, but then just give up... and wind up with a huge stack of unfinished projects. (I'm particularly bad with sketches and other visual artwork... :P)

Are you just doing the one ship, or will it be a pack of the ships with different registeries?

For someone who hates Fed ships, you are doing a great job on this one. :p
Can't wait for 2014 to start.

it's looking goods, but the deflector isn't quite right by the looks of 'excelwip2.jpg'.  The hull should curve slightly at the edges of the deflector housing.  In other words, if you were looking at it from the side, the deflector would look as though it pulled inwards a little bit.  Would you mind posting an orthographic side view so that I can have a better look?  I could be wrong.

i would'nt say i hate doing fed ships, its just that pretty much everyone is doing fed ships and apart from DJ working on his klingon ship i get kinda bored of seeing the federation stylings apposed to to charm of Klingon and Romulan ships,
Im open to the idea of Releasing a few different registries and hp's, Its something ill discuss when and IF i find someone todo textures for her,
And here are some more pics DJ, i think i have the nacelles mounted a little to high and forward, but i still have to do a little more work on them..

The nacelles are mounted a tad too close to the bow, try draggin' them back a little bit.

Here's a reference I stumbled upon if you need it. ^_^

There's one or two useful pics, with a few shots of the studio model. Best of luck!
