CENTURY CLASS BRIDGE.
« on: January 09, 2008, 01:10:52 PM »
Hi, those of you that have been following my S31 Century Class will have seen this already. This is my retexture of 3rd Era's Generations Galaxy bridge for use with the Century class (or maybe an akira or an updated Galaxy???) So far the bridge has been well recieved by the people i've shown it to. This bridge has a very different colour scheme than the origional. The most noticeable difference being the LCARS, carpets and doors. It also has new wall colours though. Some of the stations at the rear have been moved to the side stations to make room for the MSD and extra engineering stations. I've tried my best to keep it cannon to other ST bridges i've seen making it (IMO) a believeable bridge for the 2380's. It's only about 60% done because there's a lot of bugs at the moment. If you want the full information then follow the link to my website. http://www.freewebs.com/lukerobinproductions/galaxybridgeretexture.htm
This ship is intended to be used with my S31 Century class. I will be released in a pack with the ship, shuttles and escape pods. I will not be releasing this as a stand alone mod.

I like it!

My only complaint is the tan LCARS. We saw a push away from that in DS9 and Voyager, with white being used in lieu of the tan.

And it looks great for a ship of the 2380's. Remember that Starfleet uses interchangable bridge modules, so why retire a great bridge?

Another proof of concept that every ship does not need a unique bridge. Generic bridges ftw! :D *Is reminded to get the hell back on track*

actually barihawk, the lcars are dead on.  we saw a push away from the tan in DS9 and Voyager, but then a new tan came back...the one we're seeing now..in nemesis.

since this is post nemesis, it's right, and fits well with the new excalibur bridge that came out.  well done guys.  if you need another team member on the texturing end, PM me.  i just got CS3 and am very excited to test it out.

What If we could start here whole new lcars colors scheme, maybe something like adm. Janeway had in her shuttle (grey, faint/bright green, purple/pink and white) it would be cool transfer from nem to end game lcars.

I like it. But I don't think it would look quite right with this bridge since it's got quite a blue feel to it.

would that really be the worst thing in the world if true?  If we adjusted the hue for all the Lcars the same amount, we'd have an entirely new lcars color scheme, which would be completely uniform in style.

Oh come on, dont you want to challenge yourself at all? People never learn unless they give themselves new challenges.

I love the idea of the "End Game" lcars, it would definitely set this bridge apart from others.

It's not too hard. Of course, it's a retexture so I don't see what the big deal about recoloring the original panels is, as long as permission and credit is given.

The "big deal" has to do with actually doing work yourself. Simply changing hues doesnt make it "your work". If you make it from scratch to resemble the original, that's a whole other ballgame.

I didn't see him claiming it as his own work, just providing a quick demonstration of what Endgame LCARS look like.

I never said that either. I was simply stating a fact that "simply" changing hue values on pre-existing textures doesn't make it "your work". If you make a texture from scratch made to resemble an existing texture, its considered "your work". Even if you try to replicate someone else's textures down to the pixel, textures can still be examined side-by-side to show similarities/differences. If you change the hue value of a couple of colors, the pixels will remain IDENTICAL, which they wouldn't if its a completely new texture made to resemble an original. Only difference in the "hue altered" texture is the colors.

Comprende, essay? :P

:? Like Barihawk said, It was just a 5-min recoloring of the original LCARS that came from Nem sov bridge, I just wanted to show what I mean ... just incase someone didn't watch endgame, I watched it carefully and Nemesis, DS9 or any of the existing LCARS wouldn't fit the era cuz they have different styling, something like a gap betwwen TNG and relativity bridge LCARS...

Well thats up to you, but you are going from one extreme to the other.

Dr_McCoy1701A : Well darkthunder is entitled to his feelings but personally I dont have a massive problem with people using those lcars as long as credit is given and permission has been gained before release. My only point was that just adjusting the hue always leaves things looking a bit disappointing.

Now then I think we have been off topic for long enough, the next post in this thread will belong to lukerobin.

Wow a lot of posts since last night lol. I must admit that i do play around with the hue myself but I always in the end try to build upon the existing textures with new details to make them my own. I'm sorry if i'm not posting any new pictures but as some of you may know my desktop's decided to break so i'm using my laptop that's crap at gaming. But any suggestions on how I can improve it will be appreciated

I personally think she looks great right now. Having the wrong textures with the wrong LCARS coloring can make a bridge look bad. But your textures and LCARS right now fit well together.

My only problem with it is the Pre-TNG-like tan coloring. If it was a different shade, even if uncannon, it would look a little nicer. Maybe use Goldenrod(denberry)?
