Yeah about the TNG LCARS they'll go to the post nemesis lcars i just havn't got round to it yet I've only been focusing on the larger LCARS at the moment. I've also noticed the animations and it seems that the rear LCARS are the only ones that change. How do I actually add animation for the side and conn and reduce the time between animations for the rear. Also I have some quite cool LCARS animations but their in .AVI is there any video format that could be used on the consoles in the bridge?

there's no way to put video on the lcars.  you could add animations to the sides using bpcore, but if i were you i'd try to focus instead on getting rid of the back animations, though i dont know if that's possible either.  it'll give you more freedom with map swapping at red alert.

Well is there any way you can use .gif for some of the images on the bridge?

So I guess that means that BC mods won't work with excal?

They will, you will just have to reformat your textures from .TGA to .DDS.

Ah that doesn't sound so bad. What are the advantages of this new format?

It's what all modern games use. .TGA is like from when Dinosaurs roamed the Earth.

.DDS also supports cool stuff like bumpmapping and more, so we can make CGI quality models and textures without having to "oven bake" them.

DDS is short for direct draw surface. It has many advantages over TGA, most apparent of which are that it takes up a whole lot less video memory, and can automatically create mipmaps, which do wonders for FPS if used properly. It DOES NOT support bump mapping - bump maps don't work in real time, for that you have normal maps - and yes, dds format supports those as well.
Also, it's not exactly a new format, it's been around since directx7.

Sounds good, hopefully excal should run smoother than BC at leas GFX wise.

As for my bridge. I'm going to work on increasing the resolution of the LCARS atm. The side consoles seemed blurred when in game. I want this bridge to be top quality when i'm finished.

I wanna add some more animations into the bridge and increase the speed of them. How do I go about it??? I'm going into unknown territory.

Yeah I think i'll do that. Anyway i've just doubled the resolution on some of the consoles so it should be very clear now. I'll post some pictures in a couple of hours.

Doubling the resolution is not enough. It only blurs the image even more. You will have to rebuild it at the new resolution, which is what I am having to do with my bridge. You can use the Nebula back wall panels as a guide if you don't wish to do it from scratch. They are extremely high res.

Oh yeah, i've rebuilt them they do look better atm. It's just the panels that face the roof are blurred because of the angle. Thanks for the offer anyway. If you have any Sovvy style LCARS though they would be very useful.
