Prime starts his Bridge Crew (Update! 30/9)
« on: July 24, 2008, 11:35:58 AM »
Well, it's the first human model I've ever done, but with how happy I am with it I'm thinking after a little refinement, it'll become the base for one (or all) of the female models in BC. Hopefully even more amazing than the EF2 ports. Criticism welcome, as I'm more interested in refinements over ego boosting for once.

EDIT: I added the poll, if you selected "Other" please state the combination or ones you don't like the idea of etc. As it's not really a canon uniform plan, nobody has to stress that things weren't featured later on.

...Probably not, but the number I get(379.6m) could be considered ?original intent,? a term that I think I will be using from now on, and ?canon? be damned.

The legs look a little disproportionately long compared to the body, but the general shape looks good so far :)

When textures are applied, it'll make more sense. >D

Also, I'm quite liking the current look for a sleek uniform, or at least a "Variant" kinda like how TNG had skirts and slacks. Infact...

Damn it Prime! You make me feel so inferior. I can't even model a cell-phone! :argh:

Now you know how I feel about texturers. :P Maybe I'll scan all 3-400 pages of the book I ordered (when it arrives) for you? ;)

I had a massive scare last night, windows started playing up and all signs were pointing to the HDD dying out, fortunately, it's all good now (Hooray for finding my SP2 cd!) So work will progress tonight. The Polycount is currently at 2k, which seems a bit high as the EF2 bodies are around 1k. I'll be sure to see what I can do about cutting it down.

try porting from Creature Creator 1.6. it handles .3ds, I guess...

you can import them later into Max or whatever you're using and modify them. that would be, for bodies up to the neck. the heads from that program are too cartoon/manga-ish

As the model is 100% symmetrical, it is either just the light, or you're hoping for things. ;)

do you plan to integrate your created crew model in the BridgeCommander??

Of course! Though not with canon uniforms.

Thanks, though I'm more after tips on where I'm going wrong (The proportions are almost how I want them, however).

I'm thinking of some non-canon Starfleet uniforms done too, but the main goal for these were for something else. ;)

Kinda weird to have people complimenting this, as I look up to everybody else in the BC community.  Thanks guys.

This is really good, lookin' forward to when this comes out.
"To live on as we have is to leave behind joy, and love, and companionship, because we know it to be transitory, of the moment. We know it will turn to ash. Only those whose lives are brief can imagine that love is eternal. You should embrace that remarkable illusion. It may be the greatest gift your race has ever received."

You mean the "Bodysuit"? I'm definately considering it. I can also tell you to expect alot of this:
