Century Evo 3 - USS Avenger
« on: August 17, 2008, 05:00:49 PM »
Well here's what i've done so far. Refit Century designed for combat. Pretty much the entire hull is covered in ablative armour (similar to the type from Endgame) but always fixed to the hull, not deployable. Much more sinister looking than the normal Century. Also has 5 impulse engines but I may swap the 2 on the nacelles for phaser arrays or torpedo tubes. This ship is from around the same time as Endgame took place. I may also release this as a S31 combat vessel with cloaking device, different weapons etc.

I've contacted DJ for permission to release her when she's done and i'm waiting for a reply.

She still needs quite a bit of work though.

Luke, is this just a retexture? If it is, then I don't think you are going to be able to convey the "Endgame" style armor very well.

Sorry, I meant like the hull plating was a similar type of armour as in the same material. Not where it covered the whole ship. The endgame armour replicated it's self across the hull when needed but I figure that it would use a lot of power and it was most probibly the only way to fit Voyager with it in time. It would most probibly be much more efficiant to have it just stuck to the hull. But the armour on this ship still has all the windows etc visible.

So in short, same material as Endgame but fitted to the hull as conventional armour.

very nice.
the plating look is pretty cool.
ever thought of modelling the armor?
you already made experiences with modelling with your YOH bridges, so why dont give it a try ?;)

I'll give it a shot. But i'm not too sure how it would look. I could make it like Endgame Voy where it had the replicators on the hull. I want this ship to be what the Ent B was to the Excelsior. That kinda level of difference.

Btw, I havn't given up on the YOH bridge. Just taking a break from it.

All you have to add is subtle armor plating on the hull. Not much... your textures can take care of the rest.

I've added some of the armour generators (my own design :D) to the saucer section. I was thinking of altering the nacelles. The first thing I wanted to do was to move them slightly foreword. But what do you think of more of an Intrepid style nacelles but when she was in warp (see screenshot) so more square and on an angle?

I'm not too sure if I have the skill to do this though. Anyway here's a screenshot showing what i've done. Sorry that the colours are off, Max didn't render them properly.

I like the generators, it just seems that right now the armor is off. As for Intrepid style nacelles, no.

Ok then, glad you like them :D What i'll do then is still move them slightly foreword and just do some minor modifications to them and a slightly different deflector for the time being.

Btw Kirk, I'm going to cover the ship in Endgame armour using Mvam. The bare hull is just got slight armour on her.

Permission to drool? The image of that is pretty intense. I can totally see this ship with full ablative armor, just kicking the crap out of some poor borg butts.

Right, i've been messing with the nacelles. I've made them longer and moved them foreword. It doesn't look that much different but I think it makes the ship look more balanced. The nacelles always seemed too far back to me. I need help getting the end of the pylons to blend neatly into the nacelles so could someone please help me with that (Aeries ? :D)? I was thinking of making them animated aswell. I want to make the blue part on the sides a lot bigger and make an animation that's like Voyager's warp core (The swirling effect).

I think the swirl would be better suited to the bussards. What would look good (maybe?) for the blue parts is an effect like these devices.

Where each little line lights up at a different time.
