is anyone here able to convert klingon academy models?
« on: September 09, 2008, 06:34:31 AM »
If so I have a few that could be done. I'd prefer to nif them myself, if I could get them into either a single part 3ds or a sfc mod file...
I just realised something. I've released over 300 fully modded ships for bridge commander. Bow to your master :D

You can, i have done so myself once,
First you need to open them in Lightwave (because KA models are in Lightwave format) then export from Lightwave to either .obj or .3ds and then open them in max and then export it to a .nif

problem is some of them seem to be in peices, meaning one file doesn't seem to be the entire model. I had 3d exploration which I think does it, and I have a lightwave importer for max that sometimes works but not always. Wanna finish porting kthylas stuff over.

I had bookmarked a thread in Dynaverse.net with a tutorial, but lost it in a hdd crash. I think you have to import the scene (.lws) file, which contains everything in it's place. And remember to delete the ginsu damage.

I shal redownload the nessecary models, I think iether the dvas or the V44 is already in sfc (assuming battleclinic search will cooperate) but there's some new toys up there to mess with. Don't think they ever finished converting them to sfc, forgot who kthyla said was supposedly doing that.

Would anyone be willing to covert some KA for me? I could use them in sfc/.mod formatt since that's one of the places it'd go anyways and save ya the trouble of scale and texture coverting. Before I go through the trouble of joining an old KA forum just to grab a few ships.

How about converting from SCFIII to BC? Cause there's a model on SFC Files that I want converted so I can do a retexture and a hardpointing of it for BC.

Porting between SFC and BC is very easy, so long as you have the right plugins and/or programs.  If you are able to get a copy of MAX 3, 4, or 5, you can import and export SFC models.  MAX 3 will allow you to export to NIF format for BC with the offical BC plugin.  There is also an NIF importer/exporter plugins for GMAX and MAX 5-2009 that imports and exports models for Bridge Commander.  There are also MOD plugins for GMAX to allow you to import and export SFC models.

forchan I can handle that part for you. Infact if I can get that progy working that asylum uses I can make a tut and then everyone will know how to do it.

Also Cent..I thought kthylas Dvas (the brown flying wing type) was on battleclinic somewhere...but I can't find it. Do you know where it was hosted?

Never heard of the model.  Then again, I'm primarily a Fed ship slut.

Never seen the ship before.  If it was made for SFC, it was before my time.

Sounds good Starforce, the model I was looking at was on SFCIII Files, it's the Hannibal Class --> http://starfleetcommand3.filefront.com/file/Hannibal_Class;71606

Well on the readme it states that you can port, reuse it etc etc, so might as well get it I guess and redo some textures so they're not so sloppy.
