Canon is what people argue exists on ships that don't exist.

I also just downloaded the Trek XI sfx from NX-809 and the sounds are impressive. I definitely will be using these. I have also exported the ship and I am able to view it in Model Property Editor and I've scaled the ship to be around 366 meters long. So the ship will be bigger than the TMP Enterprise, but smaller than the Excelsior.

I already use some of those sounds for your previous JJPrise, they are pretty good.  And I think that's a fair size for the JJPrise, considering that's close to what they originally said.

Just out of interest, is scale set in the model property thing or in the 3d modelling program?

The ship's scale is set in 3ds Max.

EAS's numbers don't lie.

Um, Yes they do.

ILM say it's 2379.75 feet, so it's 2379.75 feet. They built these ships 1:1 in their computer environment and all the details and the shots in space confirm that size (admittedly it is smaller in one of the ground shots but thats probably because they had to fit it on top of a real world location), which the EAS guy seemed to ignore.

I'm not going to argue this in wileys thread anymore as it's his model and he chooses what size he wants to make it.

@ Wiley

Ah right. It's a shame it's not like in Armada 2 where you can change the size by simply editing one number in the ships odf file. If that was possible in BC everyone could scale ships to the size they want, eliminating issues like this.

Is she gonna have speculars?

ah but concider that the ship was scaled up and all details match a regular sized version...with the only exception to the ridiculous shuttlebay scene....

But they don't match a regular sized version. No way in hell, unless the human species has shrunk. Like I said, don't want to clutter wileys thread. Feel free to message me if you want to carry on this discussion.

Just my input here... I take it you forgot about the Shuttle bay scene from TMP... the shuttle bay didn't look that much diff in size compared to the JJ Ent.

but that's enough of this.

oh and btw there is a script in BC that can be used to edit the ships size...

I chose 366 meters because that what size Ryan Church originally designed the ship to be. ILM just made it twice as big. I would like to end this little "argument" about the new Enterprise's size. In the numerous shows and movies, there have been countless ship-sizing errors that naturally come along with any scifi genre. It is something we all have to live with.

Until I see more reference from the sequel showing the large scale Enterprise, I will keep the ship at 366 meters long.

Designer's intent usually supercedes ILM goofballs.

I was also thinking about creating a custom Warp Entry/Exit sound for JJ Federation ships. How can I do this?

On second thought, I'll create a thread in the BC Scripting section.

Could you not just take them from the film? the enterprise arriving at titan is pretty clear. Theres also the warp sounds from that 'experience the enterprise' thing.

Or do you have something else in mind?

The Trek XI sound pack from NX-809 has all of the sounds that I want to use and they are from the movie, but scripting is a bit difficult. If anyone can help, I have a thread in BC Scripting about the issue.

if your serious about the warp entry/exit.  talk to baz.  he figured out MLeo's tutorial on setting that kind of stuff for the last JJ ship pack HE put out.  I tried to work with him on the other portions involving NanoFX colours, and couldn't get it.

The ship is now ingame and speculars work. I was thinking about adding blinkers. Baz was kind enough for giving me permission to use his phaser texture that he used on his JJ fleet pack. I am getting some good results using this texture. I am still working on the scripts for the warp entry/exit sounds. Enjoy! :)
