The thing is the city destroyer relied on shields and fighters for defence, it only really has a primary weapon that takes time to deploy and then it was no match for 20th Century defenses. The fleet that took on the borg cube in first contact should be a match for one of these.

She did have some kind of forward torpedo/plasma launcher on the front because she shoots down those three helicopters that were attempting communication.  Other than that however she did seem pretty defenseless.  There had to have been some other kind of defenses though.  I mean they may have been picking on civilizations who were weaker than them technologically but if they could advance like that, it seems others could have too.  So if they made enemies of them, then they should be prepared to fight.

That was the fighter bay- the aliens just got into one of their fighters and destroyed the helicopters.

I am currently working on the weapons bay area, and after looking at reference pics, it is actually much smaller than I thought. Which means the ship will have to be HUGE to make it look big. Many scenes in the movie showed it looking much larger than it actually was.

What kind of FTL drive, if any, are you planning for the ID4 ships? Warp, slipstream or hyperspace?
Can't wait for 2014 to start.

Hmmm...wouldn't surprise me if they altered the model in certain scenes to make it look bigger to increase the menace.  Of course, considering that the only things fighting it were F16's...

if i rember with the shield down the ship is weak a pack of f16 and armys of the world could take one out with 20th century weapons so any fed ship could toast these ship very easy couldnt they ?

Warp speed would be the easiest, but slipstream could add a little bit of flair.

The weapon system will be VERY weak, so an ENT-era photon torpedo could destroy it. I do not know if BC can handle such a large ship exploding...

I also got some work done on the center weapon area. I have yet to texture the inner chamber, and model in the doors and the weapon tip. I really like this pic because it shows the huge size these ships are.

How much bigger did they make her look?  Didn't they say they were some, 15 miles in diameter?

I'll make some comparison pics. The ships are said to be 15 miles in diameter.

It's too bad that the ID4 aliens didn't have a known "race name". Would love to see some species history, aswell as a species name, for these ships when it comes to plugin time instead of seeing them listed as "ID4 Ships" in the ship selection menu, they they are ready for plugins that is.

Still looks great.

Yep, too bad there isn't a race name for these ships. We barely know enough about the species history (similar to locusts, travel from planet to planet, remove the native species/population, consume every natural resource then move on).

I've also posted the comparison pics of the weapon area.

One moment, but a pointless one...they were F18's, not F16's.

yeah the ship was actually weak without shields. Especially when those missiles hit the hull. So if a torpedo hits it, i think if an enterprise torp hits it, 40-60% damage? TNG or quantum torpedo finished it?
