There are many variants for the Achilles ship- with or without extra weapons. I think it is personal preference for added weapons. I didn't want to go overboard with weapons.

 Yes, the Achilles in DW had the phalanx style launchers, but is removing them really a bad thing? Personally I never saw them work in BC, only in Dominion Wars.

 They are not really that important considering the additional firepower that Wiley has added to the ship. Personally I would like to see those side launchers be used for torpedoes, because the only other ship that features that ability currently is the Akria.

Good thing I modeled them the same. I can have alternate hardpoints.

I'm now attempting to correctly UVW map this thing. I hope it works. :) Anyway I can reduce texture size is good for me.

I've mapped the ship to 3 2048px textures, and there are some minor bits left to map like thrusters, and weapons, but I'll add those to a texture if there is space.

Though this is my second time UV mapping, it is the first I have done it right.  :dance

Here's a small sample. The textures are a combination of Sovereign and Akira, and some flowing hull panels similar to the Proteus class. This could possibly be the "war-refit" of the Proteus class, since it uses a similar hull shape.

Curious, is the name U.S.S. Coercion what you actually intend to name the ship or is this temporary for just showing where the registry will be placed?

That's the class name and the ship. It means enforcement/confinement/command/menacing. Using a thesaurus is good way to find scifi sounding names.
