Hey Wiley, I know you request no reference pics but I may have discovered something interesting and wanted to show these for discussion's sake, (not that I want to high jack your thread either).  In Insurrection there is a scene where the Enterprise fires two aft torpedoes at the incoming Son'a, even though aft launchers aren't physically modeled in until Nemesis.  However, I may have found the launcher on the Insurrection model anyways.

When Picard and Worf are leaving the Enterprise there is an object protruding just below the red stripe before the large set of windows.  You can see it has a definite Shadow and almost looks like it could be a launcher.  But I have never seen a reference pointing it out as such and it only appears to be a light in First Contact.  Perhaps it is just a light, but when I seen it in Insurrection a moment ago it made me do a double take.  It would certainly explain those two torpedoes in the film.

You can ignore this of course if you think it's irrelevant here.  I just thought I would share and see if anyone else noticed.

Hey Wiley am I right in assuming you're also using the Nemesis Renders as a reference for the Aztecing?

I actually Believe that would be a tractor beam emitter

Yep.

Actually, you are both wrong. It is a navigational light- check the images from First Contact. The tractor beam emitters are on the lower parts of the engineering hull- one very near the deflector and one on the aft-belly of the engineering hull. The aft torpedoes (according to FC/INS John Eaves sketches) are supposed to be just above the aft tractor emitter, but that is not featured on the studio model. The emitter itself seems to be the launcher. I'll follow the sketches.

Yep.

I thought as much.  I didn't think there was that much Aztecing in the FC and Insurrection models LOL.  But the way you've done it makes it look like it would be like that :) I like it!

Yep. Both have about the same level of difficulty.

At least this time you're not likely to find fragments of sticky tape stuck to the backs of your ears. :P

oh yeah, I was finding little bits of mask, and the backing from the stickerpaper I printed them on, everywhere for weeks after I did that with my Ent-D model.  Not to mention, I'm still finding bits of mask that I forgot to remove from the model itself.  I can imagine the E would be even worse with those tiny panels.

I actually used some metallic oil pencils I got at an art supply place for the tiling on the plastic model of the E I had, looked great too.

Don't have it anymore unfortunately , got destroyed in a fire with alot of my models and other trek collectibles.  made me sick.

Still got my signatures from Marina Sirtis And Jimmy Doohan from some the conventions I went to. Mr. Doohan was a great guy to meet.

Sorry I got off topic guys. I re minis in my aging years.  :)

Sorry for the lack of updates, school has been bogging me down, but I have had an awesome week. :D

Gabriel Koerner has been emailing me about my BC version of his Constitution class. Gabe tells me that the geometry for his original model (the one in the calendar) has been lost due to a many hard drive crashes and had no backup to retrieve it. Due to the "spot on" accuracy with my BC mod, he is going to use it as reference for assisting in the construction of his new model.  :dance

Now to work on my portfolio.... :funny

Besides a bit of smoothing around the Impulse engines, She is looking awesome.

Quite a nice compliment from Gabriel Koerner to your work, congratulations on that. Quite a nice feather in your cap.

Good talent should never go unnoticed. You and many others here do some exceptional modeling. :)

Nice job man!
Though much is taken, much abides; and though
We are not now that strength which in old days
 Moved earth and heaven; that which we are, we are;
One equal temper of heroic hearts,
Made weak by time and fate, but strong in will
To strive, to seek, to find, and not to yield.

I'm going off the exact FC studio model colors. The CGI model in Insurrection was in grays. Once I do the specular highlights, the ship should look grayer.

Fantastic work wiley!

I haven't been reading this entire thread, so my apologies if i'm asking something thats already been covered.

This is the insurrection model right? So there are no deck 29's? and also no torpedo launcher behind the bridge? And that "raised kinda platform" at the shuttlebay?

grtz

Yes and yes.

Not on the INS version. I also plan on doing the Nemesis version, Eave's Post-Nem version, and the USS Sentinel. The INS Enterprise-E and the Sentinel for being made for the ST: Invasion ship mod.

Really small details like that are barely noticeable. I'll add a faint bevel to those areas of the texture.

**Keep in mind, that I'm still in school, and I'm taking my time with this, so I may not be updating as frequently.
