I think it'd be a simple change to the texture. Since MVAM loads another model, it shouldn't be too difficult, I think.

SDT is your friend ;) simple map swap when rejoining yacht with ship so the nacelles appears powered down, simple, effective and takes much less space... besides, bussard animations are looped, dunno if animated map would do the job here, I'm no expert tho

The simple map swap sounds easy to do. I've started on the alpha channel and the upper saucer's specular highlights. I'm beginning to like it.

Holy crap Wiley you don't just deserve a cookie, you deserve an entire bakery! Both the Enterprise and the Cousteau look beautifully done. The Sovereign Class is my favorite design ever and it's nice she has been well taken care of as of late, not only here but even John Eaves has been doing more Sovereign related work. He just recently designed the main shuttlebay for the Post-Nemesis Enterprise-E for a new Ships of the Line calender so heres hoping he will do more. I would LOVE to see the Post-Nem Sovereign Refit made for BC someday as well.

so i hope it isnt to late for me to make some modeling critiques... While your model looks amazing some sections look overly round. specifically from the last picture you posted, the impulse engines and the upper decks, the engines have more of a flat and cornered look and the decks smooth way too much in to the roofs for lack of a better term.

but like i said looks amazing.

On the model: what Andy posted seems a bit true, now that I look at it. It isn't imperative, but it does seem that the first three decks are too rounded, and the impulse engine edges are too smooth. Changing the smoothing groups would work wonders here. Don't get me wrong: this is by far the best Sovereign mesh I have ever seen! Don't let anyone ever tell you less!

Anyway, I can see some of what you guys are talking about - the rectanguloid frames areound the impulse engines, and the roof of deck 7/8, right?

I'll concur with Locke here, I think it's just a smoothing group tweak - shouldn't necessitate any remodelling and the dreaded remapping.
