I am also working on the Probert Ambassador Prototype ship. (I don't want to steal the thunder from Baz) This new version is a LARGE improvement over my previous one. Since I am using the symmetry/mirror modifier in max, there are some areas needed to be cleaned up along the center seam. Enjoy!

Looking good there Wiley! I never really liked those saucer impulse engines though (Not your model, just on the original ship plans) Looks like someone just stuck a Constitution refit engine array on...

Surely an Excelsior style one would have fit better?

I don't know. I kind of like the existing impulse engines.

I've finished up the pylons. These were the trickiest parts of the ship, because they were not a uniform size- larger in front and tapering toward the back with a slight tilt to the hull. Right now, the mesh stands at 5.7k polys, and I still have not added the detail bits yet. The final mesh could very well be near or around 10k polys.

Bring it on! With the sumptuous detail Tobias put into his CG model, I think this one deserves the 10k treatment. Gorgeous work so far!

I'm guessing you're not completely relying on Tobias' model for references. The pylons don't seem quite as drastically swept forward as his, I don't mind it though, his pylons look way too over-swept, although that could be the angle of the renders.

any chance possibly to make another model with this one that has a Galaxy-class kind of deflector? i do really like this ship, but the deflector is what almost kills it for me lol

it happens every now and then where 2 (or more) modders are working on the same ship at the same time; it isn't a duel or a contest or anything, just coincidence... sone of us can remember back waaaaay back in the day (2003-2004ish or so?) when BC was still relatively new and there were like 5 different modders all working on a Galaxy Class at the same time or even more than that all doing a Sovereign Class lol
besides, every modder is unique and have their own style and flair, so it is always good to have many different takes on the same ship by different modders
