Yes, but I wasn't quite happy with it. Though the textures/colors were really close to what I wanted, some bits of the mesh and mapping of a few areas do not meet with my current "quality standards." Hopefully, this will be my final version of the Excelsior.

The new Excelsior mesh is higher poly than the older one (currently over 36k polys without mesh clean-up). I'm definitely not skimping on the detail.

Good, but beware of the people here on the forum with the ms dos computers (not being able to run 2048pixels)..

I'm not trying to be the bad guy here (again) but its like jb says.. It is 2012, every low budget computer/laptop you buy is able to this with ease. So i don't think the modder needs to "lower" his work just to make sure that a few people are able to run it.

The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few

I have always loved your Excelsior and Centaur pack Wiley.

One thing that always bugged me was no Curry type. Your beautiful pylons and nacelles from your Miranda class would look well with your Excelsior

First of all, there are quite a bit more than just a "few people" here that don't have high-end systems.

Second of all, it's courteous for a modder to include lower res stuff so we can ALL play.

Third of all the "needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few" only goes so far.... and the saddest part is you already know that.

Fourth of all, that you've alluded to the fact that your system is ballsy enough to run BC with everything on very high settings makes me wonder what your system specs are...

And finally, not to completely spam this thread, I'd like to say that the Excelsior has always been my 2nd favorite ship design and with Wiley doing his "high standard" work on this new pack... I'm very much looking forward to it. I love the old pack, I can't even imagine how good this next one will be.

wiley said he will include high res textures as well as low res textures so everyone can enjoy it no matter what their system specs are...
i think thats a nice and considerate thing for a modder to do, to please everyone possible...

If I might chime in here with 1 additional tidbit... It's not an extremely complicated task for anyone who "needs" lower resolution textures, to lower the resolution on their own. Software like GIMP or Photoshop is fully capable of resizing textures, and keeping the alpha channels preserved.

Now, back to our regular broadcast programming
