if you're aiming for THE trek XI ship, then the second model is accurate, I think.

if you want to make a "what if" ship, then the first one is sexy enough. I still prefer Gabe's connie, but yours keeps the classic design of the 60's while having the more streamlined design of Abrams's

I do like the shape of the update:

But I'd prefer the bulkier nacelles of the previous version:

The straighter nacelles in the updated version just don't sit right with the rest of the curvaceous nature of the ship to me.

Sorry but it has to be said: This model is being done by Baz, who is doing it for himself and for all of us at the same time. It's not about what one person wants (Unless that's Baz), It's about what he's willing to do for the rest of us. Please try to word things more considerately, as I know of many modders (In general, I mean) who don't appreciate that kind of wording... Not trying to chew you out, just saying is all..

And yeah, Baz, you've done a great job on the model, which looks gorgeous, but my stance on the actual ship is just... Ecch.

I didn't mean to offend, just putting in my two cents.
His work so far is magnificent, certainly better than anything that I could possibly do.

And for future knowledge, if I ever make a critique, it's only meant as a suggestion, I actually fully except no one to heed my suggestions, I just want to let them out.

I know, sorry if it seemed harsh, but blunt is better than beating around the bush. Criticism is a must for canon re-creations.

No worries. I'm probably one of the hardest people to offend.
The problem with that is that I forget how easily others are offended.

Now, back to the topic!
WHO SAY THE NEW TRAILER?!?! Don't the ship look like teh sex?!?

the ship looks gorgeous and sooooo huuuuuge.
@the nacelle topic:
the newer version is correct, and assuming baz wants to create a "canon" enterprise he's on the best way.

@baz: repeating your amazing model skill is useless.

Coming along nicely. I posted some images that may help in Wiley's thread.

Here's some higher quality shots from the trailer which could be useful:

Just wait until tomorrow when the high definition version comes out.  You'll be able to see each individual hull plate at that resolution.

some a break down of today. totally rebuilt the nacelles and textured them. Rebuilt the secondary hull from scratch and refubished the primary hull and added textures

holy friggin' crap!? those pics from the trailer are AWESOME

actually, Baz, your rendition of the ship is incredible!? keep up the good work.? cookie for you.

EDIT: maybe a few more polys on the saucer rim would look smoother, sleeker, sexier.  but thats just a little thing.

Agreed the saucer needs more polys and smothing.

Will work on connecting dorsal next. Nacelle bottoms are a little too square to so have to round them up alittle.

Sorry to say no plans for a bridge yet, 1st off not enough references yet and 2nd no time at the moment. This ship has side track my main project.

is anyone good at drawing (electroniclly) textures for deflector dishes. I've tried to do the new enterprise's dish several times and looks for a better word Sh%t.

And help would be appriciated.

Bend the Nacelles out a bit. They look "way" too close together.

Gimme the texures for the deflector dish, I'll have a stab at them.
