"So, How Do We Want To Play This?"

Im trying to replicate the specular bloom seen in many of the wonderful screenshots here in this one. DJ Curtis did the Sovereign, the Krakow was done by Demon Renegade Studios and Bones, and the Son'a Battleship was done by Wiley.

How did you get the  smoke, Ive always wanted to recreate the scene of 1701 [jj] coming out of atmosphere of Titan.

Correct. I found an image of a train spewing smoke and I carefully removed the smoke and put it in my image.

I used the Default Scanline Renderer, unchecked Filter Maps, used the Blend Filter, set to 12.4 with a Blend of 0.1.

Using the correct lighting helps too. I used 2 Omni Lights- 1 brighter, making the shadows, and one for the fill light.

For the omni light using shadows, I selected Area Shadows, Shadow Density at 0.8
-Area Shadows Tab (Select 2 Sided Shadows)
--Antialasing Options within the Area Shadows Tab, Shadow Integrity and Quality set to 5
---Sample Spread set to 3.0

Also, altering my original textures allowing me to add actual spotlights to the ship and making the bussards and engine grilles glow through 3ds Max's Video Post.

I hope that makes any sense.
