that rule doesn't apply to shuttles nor many other ships like the Defiant >.>
Canon is what people argue exists on ships that don't exist.

Point is, this is based on an established design.  That's like saying I'm making the Enterprise D and then make the deflector shoot ponies that fire rainbow torpedoes that inflect the targets crew with AIDS, which makes them self-destruct the ship for some reason.  Obviously, that wouldn't be the Enterprise D then.

That sounds like a terrible way to die

And on that note we get this thread back on track.

As I established earlier I will not be making the ship with the nacelles slung underneath.

and what better way to get it back on topic that an update.

Just the saucer deflector to build then the model is done.

She looks beautiful, mate! Really done her justice!

awesome my friend  (now that i know what it was meant to be ie: a refit of the nx class in the era of enterprise it makes perfect sense)

like i say well done another masterpiece from another master modeller.

She's looking absolutely beautiful.  But I did notice one little thing that might be off.  It appears from the most recent pics, that the outboard nacelles are open, although in the original diagram they're closed.  Doug Drexler also posted this pic on his blog, which I enlarged to attempt to bring out more detail...

You can see it's closed here and has a Starfleet stripe down the side.

Good spot I already know about that as I built the ship in its original configuration first. Rest assured boxing those in will be the next job. Cookie for noticing :)

Baz,

It looks great mate.. and the skylight you have for the renders certainly shows it well, but skylights have the problem of not showing smoothing 100% or meshing errors that will appear in game, throw in a low set omni light into that scene and add some shadows to the prams, and then you will see it on the fly mate.

bloody good job  cookie time

Think I preferred it without the saucer deflector but hey, still good.

it's in the original plans, remember this is based off the plans posted on Drex Files.

I suggest that, if you prefer it without the deflector, you check out Mark's NX pack on BCFiles, that includes a very similar (at the time conjectural) NCC-05 Atlantis

Doug Drexler explains on his blog... "The reason for keeping the primary hull deflector is because the ship is still warp capable without the secondary hull.  The old warp core and all of it?s plumbing is still operational. It?s an intentional redundancy. There is a hangar at the back of the saucer."

Ship looks great Baz, both the NX-refit and the new Romy.  Can't wait to download  :)
