Competition is always a good thing. Makes people strive to do better than the rest. And while X_TheUnknown_X's Spacedock model is currently untextured, I think both of your models look great. I only wish the STO spacedock (when it gets revamped) looks atleast half as good.

This is great, I didn't expect to see two Spacedock's being made at the same time.  We have this and the Unknown's Spacedock, your new Conny and Contellation, plus Furswift announced his Excelsior pack is almost done.  It's a Great time to be a TMP fan

Like what you got so far, like your take on it.

The spotlights inside, around the top on the textures, are a nice touch. Shame there can't be an actual light source inside the dock in BC, have to be a slave to the light source in the system you're in.

a model can't have its own lightsource?? isn't the system itself a model? or a just a construct of nif files and tgas???

no.  there are a bunch of light scources specified for the system the model's in, but not on the model itself.  the model's use transparencies to emulate glows.  and before you ask, the Nano FX tackons like nav lights don't count as light scources.

I would have thought in theory you could export spacedock with interior lighting  from max.   But you'd only see lighting effect not the light sources themselves.

Given the station a blue tinge and rescaled for the galaxy to fit.

I'm not happy with it as the connie is now lost in the doorway and all the inner features are out of scale.

Perhaps make 2 versions, one to Connie scale and one to Galaxy scale with a few extra edits down to creative license to make them more distinctive?

This could work.  One would be Earth Spacedock and the other could be Starbase 74.

I'll have to have a word with SFR&D since it will be released through them

in the mean time I have re-textured the refit into the A this is more than sticking a A onto the reg

Sweetness

Are you going to make the Impulse units more red on the A?  I believe they were more Redish on the A, or at least in Star Trek VI they appeared more Red.

Another option is to employ creative licence and put an extra-wide door on one side of the base?

Agreed with both you and Nihilus. The Earth Spacedock version, would be the one that fits a Galaxy Class, and as such the windows on the spacedock would need to be scaled appropriately in relation to the Galaxy. Also, the station would be huge compared to the Connie.

I think everyone would agree to this! Though there was something mentioned in unknown's thread about the creator of the studio model earth space dock wanting to make an addon to the station under the ring that would accommodate the Galaxy.
