New deflector built.

I believe the sec hull is a bit more "fat" than it must be, and it?s vertical size is lower than it would be.
By other side, you captured very well the right shape for the delctor?s cut in the hull. :)

That is correct Baz1701.
The Excelsior's bottom is often mis interpreted as a simple half circle or even and elongated circle but it's actually stretched and flatten on the bottom (a bit) and the sides don't taper off sharply the remain level for a while.  Your rendition is following that method.

Neck rebuilt and smoothed the defelctor area and the under saucer trench.

you remind me how much i like the excelsior class, thank you... in fact you remind me that i like the original ships a lot more than current designs (from officialdom i mean, the fan designed and modeled ones are pretty damn good if not better sometimes than the ones we see on screen)

This class used to be my favorite design until the Sovereign came out. Now it's a close second.

It's one of Trek's best designed ships (aside from the PTS running down the top of the stardrive it improved on thee Constitution in every way and I think the reason why it was so heavily used for nearly a hundred years.

The neck may need to be wider but she looks good ;)

Baz, you have the elongation problem. Here's the side of my NX for comparison:

Also, the saucer "collar" is only raised on the Lakota.

Yeah I'm aware of the slight alingment issues. Below is mine vs studio model.

Also I take it you mean the collar is the greebles area around the raised bridge/impulse area?

Yeah I'm aware of the slight alingment issues. Below is mine vs studio model.
Don't forget that you are comparing two perspective views. Depending on the camera, the difference between the two can be big. Also, the nacelle aft is wrong on your ship, look at my one. It doesn't have the same slope as the front. My render on the other hand is an orthographic view (flattens the view cancelling perspective out).

Also I take it you mean the collar is the greebles area around the raised bridge/impulse area?

Yes, the blue/yellow bit of it actually, around deck 2. That part is flush with the rest of the saucer slope, the ones on top of the deck 2 and around the bridge are slightly raised (I did them - don't forget it's an Excal model - with normal maps on my one)/

Looks very nice baz, i think you are the first one who has the correct deflector ;)

Correct the mistakes that adonis has pointed out and she will be great ;)

When I saw that, I instantly heard DS9 opening theme in my head.
Star Trek Quad-nacelle fanboy Extraordinaire

StarFleet Research and Development Crash Test Dummie/Test pilot

"Beyond the rim of the star-light
My love
Is wand'ring in star-flight
I know
He'll find in star-clustered reaches
Love,
Strange love a star woman teaches.
I know
His journey ends never
His star trek
Will go on forever.
But tell him
While he wanders his starry sea
Remember, remember me."
