Well my plan was to build the Ent-B but since you need the NCC Excelsior first it was only natural to start here.

I have not plans to "downgrade" to the NX at this time.

Not a downgrade but, maybe, the Excelsiors that could have been ? :D

I feel like there should be some kind of engine in the aft rectangle, nothing real fancy, just an exhaust port or grill or something hinting at a thrust outlet. Not only does this ship need to break earth orbit, it would need to slow down once it reaches it's destination.

Otherwise it looks good. Just my minor nitpick.

This ships sole purpose was to deliver Khan into the depths of space, effectively burying him and his cronies for ever. Thus, they just gave it a kick outside earths gravity and let the interstellar forces do the rest.

The difference is frankly astounding.  It looks like it will be the most faithful reproduction of Excelsior on Bridge Commander.
You got the arc on the back of the neck right
The impulse deck is tapered too.
You reduced the size of the necks transition collar.
If you can don't forget to contour those pylons into hub.

I'll have to do the same as well, but I'll wait until Tobias posts the fully textured, higher-res orthos. Awesome job!

Yo Baz,

Looking good so far - are you using 3d max?
Also, I could scale my TOS excelsior to your TMP one. I am just basically modelling mine at the moment, havent thought about size relative to other ships yet.

Yes I use 3D Max for my ships. As for scaling I am planning to scale it to my TMP connie which is scaled the same as Wileys TMP ships.
