The hull colours are identical all over the ship. The reg is aligned correct to Tobias's ship.

 My mind and body are ready!

Destiny reference????????
Though much is taken, much abides; and though
We are not now that strength which in old days
 Moved earth and heaven; that which we are, we are;
One equal temper of heroic hearts,
Made weak by time and fate, but strong in will
To strive, to seek, to find, and not to yield.

That it may be, but it does seem a little close.  Probably because the grid-lines aren't visible.  Just remember Baz, Tobias may be good, but he shouldn't be seen as the end-all-be-all resource for this ship.

Well until ILM release detailed orthos Tobias's ship is the best refs in town.

This will be my last ship for a while, my motivation for doing this has all but gone. I'm not quiting BC mod but will be taking a sabbatical for a while to do other things. Tiq and I have talked about what I'll build when I return, but when that is I can't say.

 ;) A well deserved rest!!!!

Now on the subject of model authenticity.... In the gameplay videos for the upcoming STAR TREK tie in game, there are sections where you play as the enterprise (As far as i know that model is a direct port from the ILM one)!!!! Soooo wouldn?t it be possible to do something like what bones did with the mass effect ships  :P

Thanks for the comments, but other than some texture tweeks I won't be altering the model. I want it finsihed within a week.

Heres todays updates. I'll do the plantary array next. Note this ship is now 100% my textures now.

Keep in mind the top saucer's and the bottom saucer's shield grid is aligned together on the saucer rim.

Was going to sort the middle grid lines after I had the top and bottom done, well they done so got on it tonight.

Boy, had to do a lot of work to the top saucer texture. Had serious alignment issues, but now they are sorted :dance

Much better! and that aztecing looks great! Can't wait to fly her around :dance

One minor nitpick on the top side; based on screen caps, I think that the thicker of the two darkened circles should be right at the base of the raised bridge structure (the bit under the bridge with the red line round it) rather than further down between the name and the structure.

Here's a really good reference of the underside of the saucer on the actual ILM model:
http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-jY9wzuakcBk/UOaaTUsntYI/AAAAAAAALGY/zy1uBHtUvww/s1600/Star+Trek+Revell+USS+Enterprise.jpg

The area between the phasers and the sensor dome keeps the same colour as the rest of the hull rather than having the darker colour band you currently have under the phasers.

Are the bussards going to stay clear with the blue behind them like that? It looks a little odd without domes themselves being dark.

I'm sorry if our nitpicking has contributed to your drop in motivation, we just want to help you make things as good as can be :)

Have a good break, I'll look forward to your return and future work! :)

Nobody's figured out how to do an actual colored transparent texture, to my knowledge, so yeah, the bussards are going to be clear with the blue fans behind them.

Baz, now that the grid lines are in place, comparing with my DVD model of the Enterprise, the name and registry ARE correct, I apologize for doubting you.

Sad that you're taking a break, but I honestly can't say I didn't see it coming or that I blame you.  Considering how much work you put in on the textures for THIS thing the first go round before the hard drive crash, I wouldn't have blamed you for saying "screw it" and not even starting over.  Honestly, unless someone CAN pull the Enterprise model out of the PC version of the Star Trek game and actually take the time to go over it and fix any minor imperfections(the game model doesn't have NCC-1701 under the shuttle doors for instance), this IS the best JJ-Enterprise we're getting until ILM stops being stingy and gives us the orthos.  Heck, I even tried emailing Ryan Church, never heard back.  Either way Baz, take a well deserved break, hopefully whatever you give us next will blow our minds.

Don't need ortho's to make an accurate ship.  As I recall, only the NX-01 has had an orthographic release.  Eaves' renders of the Nemesis E don't count - they aren't orthographic.

Texture transparency is possible.  Check the modding tutorials.

I've got red transparent bussards on DJs eclipse  ;)

I'm pretty sure baz fixed the name and registry in his last update. Bang on job  :)

Secondary hull looks great!

On the saucer, I think you should reconsider this darker section:

That area of hull matches (or is very close to) the rest of the saucer on the actual ILM model, and the darkening of it is really throwing off the look of the thing from underneath (imo)
