Maybe it is because all of the other ships were not called Enterprise.

If this were Enterprise...I would like it more (minus the structural self destruct easy button in the middle.)  It's feral and military and a bit scary. It would have been an interesting statement.  I wouldn't looove it but it would be better than the Bow Legged Ugly Duckling Abramsprise.  I've gotten used to it but it's still as awkward as sin.

Kelvin still looks more "real" than anything in the series thus far.

The Kelvin really looks like the logical step between the NX-01 and the original Enterprise.  And honestly, how some of you feel about the JJ-prise is exactly how I feel about the Enterprise-D.  Still not too fond of that design.

The D at least makes since from a warp field dynamics stand point; the JJprise, especially if its the size of a Sovereign, doesn't. The Nacelles are to close together and the undercut on the secondary hull is too far forward. The design should have problems with warp field fratricide and subspace vortices that cause excess hull stress. Might explain why they never use high warp factors in the dialog.

Last time I recalled, Star Trek was science fiction.  From some of the "technology" that I've seen in the first movie and the new one, it appears that this alternate reality has an unusually higher level advancement in technology than the prime universe. Theoretically speaking, it is possible that the envelope to certain limitations that were prevalent in the prime universe are no longer an issue of concern in this alternate universe. In fact, I do not think this was the prime universe to begin with because according to some current theories in time travel, it is not possible to go back in time to "your" prime universe. Instead, you can only travel to the past of another universe. This might explain why the new Kirk has blue eyes instead of brown, Spock and Uhura are a couple, Checkov has blonde hair instead of dark brown, and why all the ships are bigger and better.  Pike was supposed to be in a wheel chair (according to the TOS pilot episode "The Menagerie"), and Section-31 is supposed to be an organization that nobody knows about and is never officially recognized or even spoken of until Deep Space Nine.  So I would hold back with arguing about the technological limits that theoretically exist in a science fiction genre.

With my entry in this months fiersly contest contest done time to get back on the Vengenace. She will be 4 textures at 2048 each (with a set of 1024's for Tiq ;) )

We have a contest contest? :p

I like it. Especially that colour scheme, goes well with a stealth ship. Hiding in plane sight.

The bottom of the window lines up with the top of the saucer. You just have to remember these ships are designed by artist and not engineers.

I have a feeling that the screen may not actually be at the tip of that extension, rather, the front of the extension is slightly lower thant the top of the saucer and the bridge is slightly further back where it raises up a bit. However, it's very difficult to see clearly what that area of the ship looks like on the various qmx/hotwheels model images and the few screens from the film we have access to.

Although, having seen the movie, I can assure you that the bridge is definitely that small window in the upper portion of the center extension.

I'm REALLY looking forward to this, but I was wondering: will it be to scale? Also, will you or someone else make custom textures to make it LOOK more like a JJ Abrams-verse ship? I'd love to see this textured as the Enterprise A.
