Miranda Bridge Retexture - Into the JJverse
« on: May 20, 2009, 09:43:04 PM »
Began preliminary texture work an hour or so ago. There's not much to show at this point, but I think you may be able to tell where I'm going with this.

Nice, not much tweaking to that and it'd be the JJ bridge.

Cookie for spotting my intentions! ;)

And an update to the light pole before bed.

SAWEET!
Anyway, looking great, shit need to be brighter, but that's not the texture, it's the bridge itself.
Btw, this may help some, it's the panorama of the bridge (flattened out), with some modding in photoshop, it be perfect.

I wanted to do it myself. Unfortunately, I don't have photoshop and I'm stuck with the laptop and need a mouse to be as accurate as I want to be.

Don't worry, I will be viewing the panorama views a lot. As for the bridge brightness, I've just lowered the ambiance to show off the new lights. Ok, here's another update, worked on some more lights.

Also, feel free to provide any c&c.

Made new ceiling lights and added them as light sources. Now only the lights I have finished are emitting light. (This is going to be a pain to make look right in BC.) :P

Thanks Prime! I did a little more work, as you guys can see, I'm a bit anal about details.

Nothing wrong with Ana... I mean... nice work! xD

Hey Kirky boy, did you add the blur to the white lights in PS or is that some sort of volumetric setting of some sort in Max? PLEASE tell me; I've been trying for the life of me to try to get material glows in max to behave like volumetric lights...

I can tell you in Lightwave all you do is tick a box and up the textures lum, but... ;)

I've gotta say this, I actually really, really like the current light setting, even if it's not what you're going to be using :P

I may use it for red alert, but I still have yet to add in the lights under the captain's chair as well as the lights above each console.

So I think Kirk is going to contribute a lot to these contests :P.

I wouldn't mind seeing some regular Trek bridges get these kinds of lighting overhauls. Makes me wish I could model worth a damn.

The only things I changed model wise were the removal of the overhead supports and light dome, and separating the main dome so I could assign it a reflective material. So, no real modeling skills are required, just a lot of patience/ sacrifice when it comes time to getting this bridge into BC.

I like the idea of clean ceiling without any of those dome-trashes-things, I think most challenging here will be adding ... lens flares :D j/k but yeah LCARS shall be uber-difficult to make as there is almost no reference on them and from what I've seen they were plain blue displays with some waves, diagrams on it so I guess you'll have to be creative ;) keep it up

More from me, stared adding in more lights. I'll need to make a proper carpet texture soon.

For the LCARS, just photoshop some of the panorama, or at least use it's helm and conn.
For the rest, just wing it, using the official sites interface as a guide.

I like what youve done here, but the light bloom adds a lot to the look of the bridge which is something you wont have in Bridge Commander...
