Cardassian Shuttle Pod
« on: June 01, 2009, 11:21:02 AM »
Original Design by "Rutger Warrink"

I looked at this design, liked it but wanted to modify it in areas, as you can see from his excellent drawing, no underside shots..  so I have been thinking about the underside of a Galor and how they would stick such a large weapon array on a shuttle pod.. or would they even bother? Cardassians are an aggressive race so I think it needs to be armed, this is one of a few projects i'm working on at the minute.

I have shown the process of creation, for you guys who are modelling, I flattened a sphere, cut my rear shape, I then shape merged the detail, and welded verts and added in new cuts to keep it clean.

It's like some sort of mini Hideki...its nice!

Thanks fellas,

I have decided to alter the aft shape somewhat, to incorporate that this is not a pod, but a shuttle..

Just made it a little bigger, but I am still open to ideas on how the underside should look  8)

**edit**

oops forgot the image  8)

For the underside... Maybe a boxier-achillesesque deflector on it...

I'll put up a picture of what i mean later if i can draw one well enough...

Give the underside a ribbed type appearance, in my opinion it looks beetle like so making it with something of that aspect would look good. In my opinion though. :D

I like... although I'd have gone with a more angular style on the aft section (If I could model), shuttles seem to do that...

Similar to the concept picture at the start, but a bit bigger, if ya know what I mean.

Again, thanks for all the cookies, suggestions and kind comments...  :D

So I have been cleaning the mesh, getting rid of unwanted pollies and such, and started on the engines on the underside, I also now Know how im gonna work the front underside, but that will be shown in a few weeks when im back from training.

For textures, I have been looking at DS9, I like the panneled look, so Im gonna go with that for this shuttle, lots of tough looking panels, it will have 2 x forward weapons on the underside, and a deflector array, no torps.

I have tried to blend the engines into the shape, but being cardy, kept them looking non to elegant and functional.

Hey, Markyd. I don't know if you still need some ideas for the underside, but take a look at what Doug Drexler just posted in his blog:

I hope it helps :)
