Boldy Going Where No Micro Art Has Gone Before

For those curious about it.

Quote
This 8.8 micron model of the USS Enterprise was created using an ion beam that guides vaporized chemicals and deposits them into a given shape and is magnified 5000 times. Although the image has shown up on a number of blogs over the last few days, it is actually not new. "Nano Trek" is actually 7 years old and was a submission to the The 47th International Conference on Electron, Ion and Photon Beam Technology and Nanofabrication Bizarre/Beautiful Micrograph Contest (how about that technobabble?). "Nano Trek" was the winning entry for Best Ion Micrograft and comes from Takayuki Hoshino & Shinji Matsui, Himeji Institute of Technology (who are apparently Trekkies).

Here is their official description:
Quote
Nano Space ? The final frontier. The space ship Enterprise NCC-1701D of Star Trek was fabricated in one-billionth scale by 30 kV Ga+ focused-ion- beam CVD using phenanthrene gas. Length 8.8 ?m

also - in the future, please do not hotlink to videos...  if you wish to post a video, please use only youtube vids with the youtube tags...
and please be sure the vid contains no vulgarity or anything kids under age 18 shouldnt see...

thx
Calvin grows up to be Frazz. The logical continuation of this is, of course, that Frazz then grows up to be Edward Norton's character from Fight Club. And thus, all four of these characters are gods.Let's go one more step. Calvin grows up to be Jeremy, who grows up to be Frazz, who grows up to be "Tyler Durden," while Suzie grows up to be Haruhi Suzumiya; since Kyon becomes The Doctor, this leads to the inescapable conclusion that after the end of Fight Club, Calvin becomes Captain Jack.

Steal it, give it a custom paint job and voila, sports car. :P

A Gallardo... a car designed to spit in the face of speed limits. Owned by the police...an organisation designed to uphold said speed limits. Paradox?

Motorways are too busy to get beyond the speed range of the Volvos and Astras the Police use. Besides, they wouldn't try to keep up. They'd intercept.

Being British is about driving in a German car to an Irish pub for a Belgian beer, then traveling home, grabbing an Indian curry or a Turkish kebab on the way, to sit on Swedish furniture and watch American shows on a Japanese TV. And the most British thing of all?.....Suspicion of anything foreign.

The Gallardo: It's a pursuit car, not your average cop car.

About the Farcry 2 vid I posted: That was my point. It's both BRILLIANT and BRILLIANT
